Other dude dropping Yomigaeri no Maou. Also, “translation when?”? Well…

Important announcement: Change in translated series’

“The pace of the story is too slow for my liking.”

“Translating that series really takes more effort than another series of the same length just because the author loves to construct stupidly long and complicated sentence structures.”

I TOLD YOU! I TOLD YOU GUYS! IT WASN’T JUST ME! WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Anyway, only one arc left of the currently released Slime Bangaihen, so I suspect that I will start translating again either early tomorrow morning (2AMish my time) or tomorrow afternoon.

Not sure which series to start with though. Bathroom Goddess? Ah, as for EGA, since people are waiting for the new short stories, but I wanna re-translate, I’m thinking one old, one new? And alternate like that? What do you guys think?

Having said that though

On the other hand, I do feel bad for not releasing faster. We’re all fans of the series, so I can understand the pain.

But that feeling of guilt and sympathy only lasts until the moment that you provoke me with entitled retard complaints.

If you want speed so much, read donor-sponsored Chinese novels. Or better yet, do like me and cut time out of YOUR OWN LIFE and try learning Japanese. Then translate for the community as well, for free, get stuck up with real life, and see how it feels when retards hound you for ‘being lazy’ or ‘not caring enough’.

Regarding how active I am

During the bangaihen, so I’ll be back in 1~3 days.

“Furthermore, the translator doesn’t want to work together with other people to translate faster nor does he/she allow the project to be handed to someone else who could translate faster.”

I can understand why you’d misunderstand, given how a lot of other translators act, but I’m not particularly calling dibs on my projects.

When I don’t want ‘faster’ people to translate, it’s not like I’m trying to use some non-existent authority to stop people, out of jealousy or possessiveness.

It’s just that if I genuinely still like a series, I simply don’t want people of quality or translation style that I don’t approve of, trying to “take over” from where I left off. It’s a matter of quality and consistency.

If anybody wants to re-translate any of the projects here, they can go on right ahead. It’s not like I have official permission from the author, so that’s a matter of course.

But as a matter of personal preference, if you’re going to MTL, guesslate, or otherwise make a whole bunch of retarded rookie mistakes, don’t link to my blog and say ‘picked up from here blah blah blah’ because I don’t want anything to do with your garbage.

Again, this is strictly limited to my ‘active projects’ (in other words EGA and Otoburi only).
See here: https://oniichanyamete.wordpress.com/15-8n2-194/

If you ‘pick up’ any of my other projects from the latest translations, I’ll help advertise and support you if you need help.

“Well, doesn’t a translator know that when he/she starts people will want more? Half assed commitment is just cruel.”

Don’t be a retard. I know you’re not trying to offend me, but that’s the same boat of logic as blaming a rape victim for dressing skimpily and not putting out, or blaming a property owner for having a good house and not giving out his belongings.

I have never forced anybody to read the projects I have picked up. I have never forced anybody to read the teasers I pick up. If you read it, and want more, but can’t because I’m busy in real life, you only have yourself to blame.

Even more so if you start complaining on my blog, and start using ‘you addicted me, this is your fault’ as a way of putting the blame on MY shoulders.

“One could argue that we should be glad to get chapters or that these are free so we shouldn’t expect anything but this argument generally forgets that by giving something like a story/movie to the public you’re demanding investment on the public’s part as well.”

This is basically as privileged and as self-centered a response as anything I’ve ever read. You think that you showing up to my blog whenever your RSS gives a notification is equal investment to the thousand hours I’ve put in translating?

“Half assed commitment is just cruel.”
“…a translator that translates chapters awfully slow…”

I don’t know exactly what you find half-assed about me, but including things outside of this blog, I’ve been translating for free for almost a year now.

I’m slow? I don’t suppose you’re comparing me to translators who have only just started, and still have that blaze? Or is it Chinese people you’re comparing me to?

I wasn’t this slow to begin with. When I first started, I was releasing multiple chapters a day, while juggling university and other commitments as well. It’s been over 10 months since I began translating Japanese things for free. Are you really trying to compare me to people who have only just started?

And as for Chinese translations, you realise that they’re making money, right? Half-assed? This is something that I’m doing between real life, and completely for free. And I’m not even holding some kind of monopoly on it, like shitty licence holders are.

All I’m asking is that if you want to translate EGA or Otoburi, you start from the beginning again. Is that so much to ask for? You don’t find any problem in the writing style abruptly changing?

Nobody but licence holders have the right to the translation, so if you’re playing the whole ‘you don’t own the web novel raws’ card, then why don’t you just pretend I don’t exist and do your own thing?

Even if you ignore my request, I’m not exactly going to start up a stupid manhunt with my sad little translator buddies to vilify you. It’s only a request, and if I had the time to do bullshit like that, I’d be translating.

Status Report

Still reading Slime Datta Ken. Almost done. Won’t be too much longer.

Originally said I would finish the current Otoburi arc before I translated anything else… but I assumed that I would finish it all in one go.

Then Slime Datta Ken happened. It’s all Slime Datta Ken’s fault. If you want to blame anybody, blame the clown guy for getting me into it. I’m the victim here!

So anyway, in an extremely good mood today. As to why, it’s because my copy of 北の砦にて(at the northern fortress)arrived!

When I checked amazon, it was only used copies you see, so you can imagine my joy when I managed to get myself a brand new copy. It was originally a web novel of about similar length to Evil God Average, so I can imagine that either EGA will be novelised as a single slightly-thick-ish(for an LN) book like At The Northern Fortress, or it’ll be separated into two books.

Um, so yeah. When I start translating again, it won’t just be Otoburi. I’ll immediately start translating 1 or 2 chapters of everything, and going through them in some sort of cycle.

Linked to another cute blog.

Thanks for telling me about this Fakar. Somebody is translated ‘So I’m a spider. What about it?’ over HERE.

EDIT: Yeah, it’s a spider. I was busy and hadn’t read the translations, nor seen the raw title, and only translated from the roomaji title. Both 蜘蛛/クモ(spider) and 雲(cloud) are romanised as ‘kumo’.

Decided I may as well

Since I already took photos on my phone to show somebody, may as well do this before I go off and piss my time away playing Dishonored.

“ONIICHAN! SO UNFAIR!!!”

[An elder brother who snatched the lead role away from his little sister.]

To begin with, in the beginning, Nozaki’s little sister was supposed to be the heroine, and Nozaki was nothing more than “the heroine’s brother”; a super support-character type position.
Instead, before I knew it, he had been changed into the lead role; the awkward first born, Umetarou.
There were too many add-ons to introduce the little sister as a side character, so I don’t think I’ll be able to have her appear in the main story, but she lives on in the shadows! And that’s how it is.
There’s an imaginary chapter where she plays (together?) with Mayu.

Incidentally, Yumeko was supposed to have two brothers; Mayu in the grade above, and another brother who was secretly a shoujo mangaka.
The manga would’ve been about Yumeko trying various things in regard to a shoujo manga. Basically, pretty similar to how Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is now.
Incidentally, the book the protagonist is holding says ‘Gekkan Shoujo Romance’.

yumeko2“WAI-, ONIICHAN!!?”
GIVE THEM BACK! GIVE BACK MY FRIENDS―――!!!

\\Cyazzzz, Yumekooo~//
\\Sorry… I’ll be taking the two of them.//
\\Byebyeee, Yumekooo~//

[An elder brother who took away even her friends.]

Incidentally:

Kashima and Yuzuki were also taken from imouto.
No, well, there wasn’t enough time to fix them up from scratch, so…
It was before everybody had started moving, so it’s great that the two of them got used to their new story.
(If I transfer characters mid-way, they’ll sulk.)

This has nothing to do with anything, but,

I went and bought the Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun fanbook, and as many of you might remember from many scanlated chapters ago, Tsubaki-sensei once mentioned that the protagonist was supposed to be Nozaki-imouto.

Incidentally, Mayu was originally supposed to be another Nozaki-imouto:Yeah, the photoshop and typesetting looks like crap, but that’s why I’m a web novel translator, and not a scanlator. Lay off me. xD

EDIT: Oops, forgot the text on the side.

“Mayu was originally a woman, but because she wouldn’t get along with the other guys (in particular, Mikoshiba), she became a man. A scene of high school boys nervously fidgeting before the silent middle school girl.
Incidentally, although the two brothers of the Nozaki household lack enthusiasm, the current little sister is always super energetic (like her father).”

So about my ‘V List’…

Originally I made it as a joke because I was bored, but over the months I’ve been noticing a lot of people linking it on reddit and stuff.

And so, although I’m too busy to translate until after Friday, I do have enough time to do stuff like this during my breaks, and so I decided I may as well update it.

And I’ll keep updating it as necessary from now on.

[In case any newcomers have no idea what list I’m talking about… its this one.]
