What’s more, that little girl was one of the rival characters that appeared in the game; the can’t-take-a-hint-burikko-type-rival daughter of a marquis family. What awaited her at the end was social obliteration.
Though she did get a bad feeling about this… Aimi decided not to worry!
It was a dream after all, so that had nothing to do with her. For now, she’s going to master magic! Hooray!

      1. “Moon Runes” is a slang term for all Japanese characters (Kata, Hira, Kanji), it’s used by various Online communities most prominently users of the board /a/ (4chan). It’s generally used by those who can not read Japanese, thus it’s to emphasis the fact the characters mean nothing to them.

    1. not at all. i hate pdfs (probably as a consequence of having to deal all academic journals as pdfs), but if anybody savvy on that stuff wants to do one, i suggest you wait for the next 4 chapters first or whatever, since that’s when this childhood chapter ends.

Take responsibility and let me know if it's still worth the read later on. The story just feels a bit grim and i get the feeling there will bw tragedy incoming. Feels like a mix of a coming to age story and tragedy. Don't know if i can handle that ;_;

    1. Lots of people die, but things also get increasingly better for Taylor, in a sense. Up until the last 5 arcs, but that’s because it’s like the ‘confronting the demon king’ type part of the story. Definitely worth reading imo.

    1. Unsure. Unlike the other web novels I’ve considered translating, I’ve only read as far in burikko as I’ve translated. But Kenkyo is my favourite Japanese web novel.

      It’s a reincarnation in a manga setting as a villainess (like buriko’s one), but the world is similar to ours.

      There is this other https://aquascans.wordpress.com/novels/sugar-apple-fairy-tale-novel/ that is in another world but the main character doesn’t have anything to do with magic or sword, she is a sugar ‘sculptor’.

      And there’s also another novel that isn’t being translated (lack of people I guess?), only the manga but it’s still pretty good with a strong female main character on the way to become queen (not through marriage, as a ruler) it’s on the same site as the previous one, it’s Okobore Hime.

    2. Unsure. That’s the digest. In the original webnovel, it was never specified how her name was read, so I assumed Aimi since that’s the most common one.

      But then my light novel arrived, and they indicated that 愛美 was read まなみ, so I changed everything.

Why yes, I do like romance series that show both romantic leads’ perspectives. :) Camille is the cutest dork. I also like our beloved stalker/ninja prince and sassy Achille. So many good characters.

    As a result I really want to support this series by throwing money to the publishers (also to get those hella sweet illustrations), but I don’t want to deal with the spotty mail service. Do you know if there’s an e-book version a la amazon.jp or something instead?

  132. I too just found this project and really enjoyed….and am sad it hasn’t been updated in so long. The fantasy setting is really great & I love the interactions between Camille & Achille.

    *Spoilers if you’re reading the comments & haven’t read the project as far as it’s been translated*

    Super curious about the headmaster (thinking he might be a bodyswap?) and about the J of Clovers’ motives (& what did Achille promise him?). The Heroine/Fran Monier is really annoying…like really annoying & rather clueless at how much suffering she causes. It’s rather hypocritical of her to say it’s for the common folks greater good when the revolution is hurting them and she is using forbidden arts on them, causing their innocent children to explode (*if the bomb went off). And not putting herself in the place of other bodyswappers…

    Could you maybe release a spoiler summary of what ends up happening, if that’s something you wouldn’t hate doing?

      1. I tried reading it, but felt it was somewhat less interesting and couldn’t get through it… I missed the magic and did not feel as invested with the characters. The Emperor seemed a bit annoying and it didn’t feel like Reika had as strong a personality. They just did not seem as likable to me :/…One thing I did like was Emperor-san (can’t remember his name) copying Reika+her brother’s interactions now & then. But it also seemed like there was less romance too? I’m sorry, I just can’t get into it…
        I have read a little bit of Tilea, but she her denseness and the lack of romance-interest makes it harder for me to stick through it. (I think I ended up reading the beginning and then skipping to somewhere when they were in the capital…). Especially, Tilea’s insistence it’s all pretend/chuuni disease =___=;…though I may go back & read some parts I skipped, maybe…
        Evil God Average is a bit slow moving and I really just don’t have much of an interest in it.

        Northern Fortress is sweet and has good potential, but it’s a bit early to decide one way or another my feelings towards it…

        Bathroom Goddess is enjoyable in trying to predict how everything interconnects & hints of romance between her & the first person she meets…though I do appreciate Otoburi more.

        I think after Otoburi, my favorite one is definitely I’ll Live My Second Life, which was how I found the website. I really like the fantasy elements, crossdressing, and decision for her to move forward in her life…though I think Otoburi is still my favorite. I just really like the magic, romance, and strategies. (Granted I don’t find the Queen of Diamonds & Clovers as interesting and I don’t like the heroine/Black Joker, but I really like the interactions between Achille+Camille and am curious how it all works out). There are also different parts that still seem intriguing to me…

        Anyway, I did not intend to write a long post back like this…but I have been reading around here & there XD. Thank you for your translations!!!

          1. There’s too much to read and too little time to do so. When I got in the mood for reading being-reborn-in-otoge novels I happened by this novel and I liked it the best probably. This and the Yandere otoge reijo…
            Actually Bakarina is even more repetitive than that. I didn’t try Kenkyo yet.
            The thing is I am studying japanese, but I still can’t read all the kanji comfortably if they’re without furigana. Especially novels are a nightmare for me now, so I often opt for translations……and this is just me rambling, so yeah, please ignore it.
            BTW, do you know any manga or novel series that’s like Harry Potter revolving around studying in a magic school? I’m in a mood for that now. :D

              1. Thaaat’s what I am tired of the most: harems. I knew I hoped for too much, thinking that Japan has at least one manga/novel series that’s as good as HP…
                There is The Irregular at Magic HS, but as it’s set to future it’s a bit off. I also really like The Ancient Magus’ Bride but there’s no school.
                Basically, this means there isn’t a japanese series with MC enjoying studying magic in school. The aspect of MC being taught and hardships of acquiring knowledge is what’s enjoyable, but nowadays most series skip this part. Sometimes I wonder if I should give up finding series like that in Japanese…
                But thanks, I’ll try Kenkyo soon. :)

  183. I usually never read light novels but it was thanks to this LN that got me into it. So far I’ve stayed up for a whole day just simply because i can’t wait to read chapter.

    I know it’s not my place to demand or request the translators to keep going but i feel it’s such a shame to drop this LN when you’ve come this close to almost finish translating the whole series.

    So please, can someone please finish off this series.
