The book on acupoints I got from Kaburagi was pretty interesting. The human body suure had a lot of acupoints.

For swelling and water weight was the Water Separation Shuifen Point on your tummy, apparently. I gave it a press. Hmmmmm. Was this working?

For leg fatigue and swelling there was the Mountain Support Chengshan Point in the middle of the calf.

Whoa! That hurt! I think it was working!

I was using the rounded end of a pen to push one of the nerves on the sole of my foot. Owowowow…

I had gotten into acupoints so much that the next day I went out and bought some of the stick-on moxibustion kits. I had always been a little curious about this, after all~

Since I was worried about scarring I tried the sole of my foot first.

First was the Gushing Spring Yongquan Point. Whoaa! Hot! It hurt, but it felt like it was working! So this stuff was real!?

When it was done, the skin underneath had gone red. Best not to do this with sensitive or visible skin then.

It wasn’t all that comfortable laying face down, so I changed from the bottom of my feet to my palms. Umm, the one in the palm of your hand was the Toil Palace Laogong Point, right? Got it.

It felt pretty good just pressing on the Fish Border Yuji Point at the base of the thumb. One for there too.

Hmm, and maybe all my fingertips…

While I waited for them to burn with my hands palm up, I stimulated the acupoints on my feet with the foot massager I bought earlier.

It reaaally hurt the arch of my foot! But it was good for me!

I heard a knock on my door.

“Reika, mind if we talk?” asked Oniisama from outside.

I asked him to come in, since I could hardly get the door with moxa on every finger.

When he came in, Oniisama was wide-eyed and speechless.

“I apologise for my appearance, Oniisama. How about you join me?” I offered as I stepped on my foot massager.

Also known as ‘green bamboo’ since apparently that’s what they were before.

“Reika, when work calms down a bit, how about we go and eat somewhere? If you’re worried or something, you can talk to me about it…”

“Wah! Thank you, Oniisama.”

Eating out with Oniisama, huh. Then until then, I needed to keep up with the stomach acupoint.

At first I thought this was ridiculous, but now I was so glad I got this book~

It was finally here; the day of the tea party where the 2nd and 3rd year Pivoine members discussed the next president.

It was discussion mostly in name of course; usually the candidate was already chosen in advance, meaning that the President simply had to announce who it was.

Aah, in the end I failed to refuse… My stomach felt like it had a weight in it.

Could I spend my next year peacefully, do you think? Probably not, huh.

I thought about asking Enjou to do it just in case, but he avoided giving a straight answer with a smile, and even if he did accept I could only see trouble for myself.

Owing a favour to that guy was like owing money to a loan shark.

But I was resigned now. If ever there was some problem that I couldn’t deal with myself, I was resolved to go crying to Oniisama.

Maybe even Imari-sama could help me.

With Oniisama’s smarts, and Imari-sama’s way with women, there weren’t many problems that we couldn’t resolve.

To calm myself down, I pressed on the acupoints on hand.

“Well then, is anybody interested in becoming a candidate for the next president?” began Youko-sama after a round of pleasantries.

Naturally my hands weren’t raised. Even I wouldn’t nominate myself…

“If there isn’t, then I nominate-”

“I’ll do it,” somebody interrupted.

To everyone’s shock, it was the Emperor, Kaburagi Masaya himself.

“Eh…?”

“Kaburagi-sama…?”

I was shocked as well, of course.

Kaburagi trying for the next president!?

Impossible. This was Kaburagi!

He obviously had no interested in working as the president at all!

No freaking way! What the hell was happening!?

“Am I not good enough?” he lorded over us, sending the room into a panic.

“So you’ll be willing to undertake the position, Kaburagi-sama?”

“We could not wish for somebody better, Kaburagi-sama, but…”

“I don’t think any of us think that you’re unsuitable, Kaburagi-sama, but…”

But was he serious?

That was what everybody was asking in their heads.

Starting with Youko-sama, a huge slew of people would have loved Kaburagi as the next president, but they gave up from the start because they knew he would never accept. At least that’s what we thought.

“In other words there are no objections to I, Kaburagi Masaya, as the next President of the Pivoine?”

Everyone nodded in assent.

“I see. Then that’s that,” he said before arrogantly relaxing back into the sofa with tea in hand.

Once the discussions were done, Youko-sama came over to me apologetically.

“Reika-sama, I’m truly sorry about this. I hadn’t even considered that Kaburagi-sama would be interested, and…”

“No, I was shocked as well. But in fact, this is a great weight off my mind.”

“You’re right. Afer all, Kaburagi-sama is the face of Zui’ran itself, not just our Pivoine. With Kaburagi-sama as the next president, the likes of Mizusaki Arima’s Student Council are as good as rabble.”

“Truly.”

“A Pivoine led by Kaburagi-sama, with you and Enjou-sama supporting him. How wonderful… Isn’t it, Reika-sama? Hohoho,” she laughed happily.

I still wasn’t quite sure what happened, but at least I got out of being president. I wouldn’t have to worry about white hairs now.

Hell yeah! After a storm comes a calm, damnit! Ah, maybe that was the wrong phrase?

Good things come to those who wait? Maybe that wasn’t it either.

Well who cares! Whoooo!

I left the room feeling so euphoric I could skip. Of course, Kaburagi had to stop me.

Eh? What is it now?

Don’t tell me you don’t wanna do it after all? Well too late, buddy!

“Can I help you…?”

“Were you planning on being president?”

“Eh?”

Why was he asking that? Ohh, did he overhear my chat with Youko-sama?

“If there was nobody else then they planned to give it to me, but I myself had no interest. It was a responsibility that I hoped somebody else would take up.”

“I see. Good.”

Huh?

“Masaya was worried he had taken it from you,” explained Enjou who was standing next to him.

Oh, so that was it.

“I had absolutely no aspirations towards the position of president, so please be at ease. I wish you luck as our next president.”

“Yeah.”

Oh, and I almost forgot.

“And Kaburagi-sama, the book you gave me was very interesting. Thank you very much for it. Well then, gokigen’yoh.”

My worries were gone now.

Maybe I’d try some more moxibustion tonight.

I wonder why he suddenly decided to be the next president though.

Ah well, whatever.

After I woke up early that morning, I had my morning bath. Haah, so warm.

Without washing my hair in the morning it was hard to turn my bed hair into my perfect curls after all.

After getting out of the bath, I stood in front of the mirror for some skin care.

Couldn’t be stingy with the facial lotion.

Huh.

“Waaaaaaaahhhh!!”

Gone! My eyebrow was gone!

I gripped the mirror in both hands and stared at my eyebrow. Gone…

Where my right eyebrow should have been was instead just the two ends of it. An eyebrow missing almost the entirety of its middle…

When I looked at my left eyebrow to compare, it was missing a part of it as well. My face looked so weird right now…

No, no, it wasn’t the time for this morbid fascination.

Where the heck had my right eyebrow gone!? And since when!?

I had to do something about this.

At times like this, the most reliable one was…

“Okaaaasamaaaa!”

I covered my eyebrows with one hand and ran for her.

When she saw what had happened to them she screamed as well.

“Reika-san, what have you done to yourself!?”

“I have no idea, Okaasama! When I saw myself in the mirror just now they were already like this!”

“So you didn’t shave them off by mistake?”

“No! Absolutely not. And why would I ever shave off just the middle!?”

“True… Then why… Reika-san, could it be that you plucked them off yourself during your sleep?”

“I doubt that I have the dexterity for that in my sleep.”

“True.”

“What do I do, Okaaasamaaa!”

“Well, we’ll have you take school off for today. Okaasama will take you to the hospital.”

I nodded tearily.

Uooohnnhoo! I didn’t want to go outside with this stupid looking face! What the heck happened to you, eyebrow!? An insect bite!?

Otousama and Oniisama came to see what the fuss was about, but I didn’t want them to see! Especially never Oniisama!

At the hospital I was diagnosed with spot baldness.

Apparently it wasn’t limited to the hair on your scalp. I was careless.

“It’s actually quite common. With men it can happen with their facial hair too.”

I see. My mind had the toughness of a blancmange so I had probably failed in handling the stress…

They prescribed me some medical cream, and Okaasama supported me home. What if I was like this forever…

No, no, I couldn’t stress. I would only get balder.

In front of the mirror I swabbed on some of the medicine. I wasn’t sure how much I needed, but I wanted to be careful about applying it evenly. It would be terrible if only my right eyebrow suddenly grew back.

I hoped I could hide this tomorrow with just an eyebrow liner and my fringe.

“Aaahh…”

I was definitely performing some purification rites come New Year.

And for now, I’d press the acupoint for hair growth.

  2. Will Fellow Stalking Horse have to add acupoints to things he’ll have to ban Reika from using?

    Like, say, after she slowly and carefully point out some of the more…’interesting’ (dangerous) acupoints to be pressed to a victim who’s already frozen in terror already.

    She’ll put the pen on one of the spot, explain what it is, then look at the victim in the eyes, smiling, apply a light pressure with it, before withdrawing the pen and move to the next ‘interesting spot’ until she’s done giving them a small lecture and a lifetime of traumas.

      She is a president of handicrafts club,that’s basically stabby with thread. All he can do is prevent who ever idiot who challenged reika or even meet reika coincidentally

      1. Isn’t it kind of a dumb move to let Bakaburagi be the president of the Pivoine? For one thing, it’s Bakaburagi, and he probably only had interest in the position because then he could have a head on with the FSH Kaicho.
        Among the three faces of the group, it seems that only Enjou is the only one who has a bit of an inkling to how much power they really possess. And how it would affect the students. I wonder why he doesn’t want that position when he can make peace in the school considering he also have enough cunning to manipulate the situation. Probably running away from the stress then, like Reika. XD
        Reika, on the other hand, just doesn’t know how powerful she is amongst the student body, both Internal and External. To the point that had she became the President, she would have made peace in the school, no matter what she did anyway. XD Worship Goddess Kali for the win. XD

      1. Acupuncture isn’t placebo. A cousin of mine is a doctor and has a certificate for acupuncture but isn’t allowed to practice it because she didn’t have a license to. It’s been used for a long time in the East to help heal people. It does have it’s limits. It can numb your pain receptors, but it can’t cure cancer. It’s not a miracle cure all that some charlatans say it is.

        1. In the East they have been using a lot of things to “cure” people for a long time. Practitioners in China can’t even agree where they need to put the needles to get whatever effect they are looking for.

          1. Read the latest medical journals if you want to know how far studies in acupuncture related to modern medicine has come. From what I understand it has been confirmed that it can relieve pain, nausea, and have some other effects. Maybe newer journals would have more, but I’m not studying medicine nor am I interested in it, so hell if I’m going to read through another one. Last time was because I was curious and my cousin still lived close by.
            Well, some people still believe that the world is flat, that the sun revolve around the Earth, and that we never stepped on the moon. Believe what you want.

  6. Onii-sama is having it hard. Not only he got loads of work done as the heir since that tanuki doesn’t seem to work much, he also got time to worry about his little drill hair so that she doesn’t do something idiotic from stress. Thank god he doesn’t go bald.

  12. KABURAGI VS. STALKING HORSE the presidents that fight for wakaba-chan. While they are fighting for her, they didn’t know that there was a BOSS (reika) character slowly advancing towards her. Later they found out that they both lost.

    Anyway, I guess Enjou pulled something behind the scene so that Kaburagi took the position of Pivoine’s president. Reika mentioned that she vaguely asked him. Perhaps he wanted to repay her for ‘taming’ Yukino?

      3. I doubt that, Kaburagi is an idiot. I don’t wanna do spoiler, but the truth is he wasn’t really aware that everyone around him knew he had feelings for Wakaba, and to add more harshnesses to Wakaba’s school life, the Fellow Stalking Horse was the same. No wonder why Wakaba was drawn to Reika :v

      4. I agree, but I too believe Enjou must’ve mentioned something to Bakaburagi behind her. After all, he knows Reika would be stressed out by the social workloads of being Pivoine’s President. He must’ve guessed/informed of the actual reason she looks fatigued in previous chapter.

  18. I think it’s pretty obvious that Kaburagi took the job to protect Wakaba.
    Reika tipped him off to the fact that Wakaba is being bullied and that it’s his fault. So it’s a logical move for him to become President to patch things over with STUCO and to discourage bullying.

    What is that terrible noise coming from my sisters room? it wasnt that unusual to hear strange things, but this sounded like she was being tortured, those grunts of pain were distracting! was she on a new fad diet and exercise routine? did you give up on your hula hoop? please stop! this is frightening! Finally I had enough, stepping into her room I saw her standing in a strange position adorned with things stuck to her hands, What the hell Reika!

    No little sister I wont join you in whatever arcane ritual I interrupted, just NO! I have been neglecting her lately, lets treat her to something nice, yes, tell Onii sama all your woes, lets exorcise these demons causing you to act this way! The next day my sister was screeching in terror, calling for Mother, seriously what the hell happened now! a frantic Reika and now Mothers horrified screeches could be heard on the otherside of the door, my god what happened! Father and I were at our wits end till Mother appeared looking flustered.
    “Dear” She said to my frantic Father “Reika will be taking time off school for possibly a few days”
    “Whats wrong? should she go to hospital?” I asked worriedly perhaps that arcane ritual had done something to her? Reika do not delve into such dubious and strange activities again!
    “My princess I must go to her!” Poor Father looked dreadful, when he poked his head in the door Reika shrieked at him to get out! I caught a glimpse of her with her hand covering her eye. Reika what happened! did one of those things on your fingertips stab you in the eye? go to hospital right now! I imagined her doing that thinking thats what she did.

    Why on earth didnt they just take her to hospital! frustrated I reached in to drag Reika out ready to take her myself, instead she screamed and wrenched her hand away turning her back to me pleading for me to leave, seriously what the heck! Mother intervened and said it wasnt like that but she will take her to the Dr as soon as possible! just leave Reika with her, she will take care of everything, dearest little sister, you shave years off my life! honestly you do, I might also be deaf now…

    Kisshouin has been looking rather stressed lately, her shoulders slumped, I wonder what had happened? when she approached me I smiled, how unusual, she seemed rather skittish but she did make a strange request, she wanted me to become the President of the Pivione, was she endorsing me? Oh Kisshouin, do you think I would eagerly take over such a position? not on your life, tactfully I avoided answering, wondering how far she would go, but seeing her dejected expression, I knew she wouldnt pursue the matter further, I was disappointed, I wondered how long I could dangle that carrot in front of her.

    I had seen the president talking to her frequently, and noticed a rather pained smile on Kisshouins face, was she offered the President position? When Masaya volunteered to take on that role, I was shocked, why on earth did he decide to do that? I observed Kisshouins reaction and wasnt surprised, at first shock, then realization, then relief, oh you little rascal you wanted to palm that off on me didnt you, to be honest I was contemplating it, I mean it put me in a position that would make toying with you much easier.. hmm..

    I decided to follow Kisshouin and saw her talking to Youko sama, she left not long after, I grinned as I watched her do leaps of joy that was so entertaining I almost laughed out loud. (Lol) Masaya followed me a short while later, escaping the Pivione members congratulations and chatter, it was then I discovered he had given her a book, what the heck Masaya, what kind of things are you giving her now? my mood had soured a little..

It hurts so much trying to stifle my laugh, but I couldn’t wait until classes was over😂😂 and here I thought it’s because Reika’s been doing those accupoints and dabbling in black magi—I mean eastern medicine (΄◞ิ౪◟ิ‵)

    And why do I get the feeling that the reason why Bakaburagi wants to be the pres. of Pivione is because of Stalking horse? It feels Something like a proxy war between the Pivione and StuCo is gonna happen and it’s probably with the whole Enjou fics I’ve been reading but maybe he’s disappointed the Reika didn’t see become pres…..being a huge S and a haraguro the great prime minister of the Bakaburagi empire, he does enjoy seeing our Rococo Queen in trouble😆😌

  25. Wow, Bakaragi surprised me. He’s obviously aiming to protect Wakaba. Bakaragi’s presidency is a big deviation from the original story.

    If Arima, Bakaragi, Enjou and Reika are Wakaba’s Allie’s, then who would be against Wakaba? And without Reika’s or Pivione opposition, can Bakaragi and Wakaba overcome their class difference? I can see Bakaragi’s mother trying to recruit Reika as a vaccine or Reika using her nest egg to help the young couple.

    2. Lets not be confused here, at no point has baka helped Wakaba, not one ounce has he helped her in anyway thats useful, if anything he has exacerbated her situation to stupid levels, all done while being unaware.

      Her true knight is Reika, she is and has always been her only competent protector, if this were a Yuri novel Id ship these 2 together rather than that baka idiot or sly dark prince.

      Wakaba is her ideal, she cooks has a sensible lifestyle that is totally in line with her, is smart capable, and hard working, imagine if her family fell into ruins she would have great inlaws with wakabas family!

    1. Well, I wouldn’t say that. Reika is confirmed many times in-story to look like a princess. I’d say it’s more like Reika’s probably handed all the normal life bad-luck genes while Oniisama’s bad luck probably come from Imari and that needs a special level human (Oniisama) to deal with. XDDD

    So that laissez faire, it-doesn’t-concern-me-unless-it’s-a-competition-or-about-Yurie-or-Wakaba Bakaburagi stepped up, huh. What’s he up to?… But this is truly the start of the (false) Pivoine Triumvirate XDD

      1. So it’s actually to Japan! I want to go there too!😍😍😍 yeahhh.. maybe one day (cross fingers) so it’s really holiday then. will you go and see mount fuji? though at this time I suppose Japan will be covered by snow.. but in your country I suppose it’s already snowing too?
        I am still in process of discussing it with my friend, but maybe Singapore? or Bangkok? I really want to go to European country like German for example but the trip is too much long.. And I have a bit of discomfort when boarding the plane.. especially in a long time😢 too much pain in my ears😭
        goodness. sorry. I actually vented it all to you..😂😅
        anyway wish you all have a nice trip this sunday then. and off course have a nice time there😊 Oh Japan.. where all the wonderful anime and manga and web novel had been created… when will I go there myself?😂

    Hmm, I wonder how that suddenly happened though?? Nevertheless, Reika-tan, I pray for the growth of your eyebrows. Truly a sad thing to experience.

    I remember when I had this classmate in 6th grade and she got her eyebrows shaved by the make-up artist. I don’t know why it got shaved entirely but I laughed and cringed at the same time at how she looked. At this time, she’s still in the same school as me and I can’t help but recall that dark past of hers. LOL.

      1. Well, I can’t really remember but she was probably Mona Lisa for the rest of the school year. Eyebrows take a long time to grow fully!! She looked like an alien tbh.

  56. What kind of howls of the damned did Oniisama overhear? And I feel you Reika! Though I haven’t lose any eyebrows (yet) my hair has been falling at an alarming rate…stress is a serious serious ailment.

    Though the timing’s a little suspicious. Can acupoints cause eyebrow disappearance? Backlash curse from all the voodoo Reika casted on Bakaburagi?
