“I’m late. Sorry.”

A ripple of noise and excitement, particularly amongst the girls, ran through the kids as Kaburagi made his dashing entrance.

Today he was wearing mostly all black so he gave off the impression of resplendent black quartz.

No, Mao-chan, being entranced is bad! Yuuri-kun is still right next to you!

Kaburagi made a beeline for Yukino-kun.

“Happy birthday, Yukino. Here. Your present,” he said as he handed it over. “I bought some cake too.”

I realised he was holding a bag from a cake store in his other hand.

Wakaba-chan’s cake store.

“Masaya, don’t tell me you were late because you went to get that?”

“Pretty much.”

What the hell!?

He came late to the party because he wanted to go meet Wakaba-chan!?

Or was it that he went to pick up the cake only to forget the time with her?

Either way, he still used the birthday cake as an excuse to go meet her!

Yukino-kun opened up the cake box with his mother.

“Oh, a snowman.”

It was a simple white birthday cake with strawberries on top.

Written right in the middle with chocolate was ‘Happy Birthday Yukino’, and to the side was a little meringue snowman.

“You like snowmen, don’t you? They asked me if I wanted anything else on the cake, so I had them make that for you.”

“Wow. It’s cute.”

Since we had the cake anyway, we lit up another set of candles on it.

The fancy cake from earlier was delicious, but if I had to say, simple strawberry birthday cakes like this were my favourite.

We began to sing Happy Birthday again.

I was doing my best to sing, but Kaburagi just clapped.

“Happy Birthday, Yukino-kun!”

The cake wasn’t all that big so each portion was smaller.

Since I was an adult I left the strawberries for the kids.

Even though cream with strawberries was delicious.

Even though I loved that stuff.

I was an adult after all.

Yukino-kun was being adorably conflicted about whether or not to eat the snowman.

I totally understood how he felt.

When I saw the little Reika-chan figure I couldn’t bear to eat it either.

In the end it had actually met the new year from the inside of my freezer.

I wonder how long meringue lasted…

The cake from Wakaba-chan’s family store was delicious even without the strawberries!

Maybe I’d buy some the next time I was there.

“Yuki-chan, why don’t you open your present from Masaya-san?”

“Mm. Wah, it’s heavy.”

As it turned out, Kaburagi had gotten him a large book of Escher’s art.

“I chose it since you seemed interested in Escher. Something to look at the next time you’re bedridden.”

How could he bring up being ‘bedridden’ on a birthday!?

Yukino-kun didn’t mind the ill omen though.

He just thanked him before fervently examining the book.

I wondered though.

Could it be that Kaburagi actually liked gifting books to people?

I remembered getting an anthology of Heine poems from him.

His father had a rare book collection too.

Maybe he was influenced.

“Would everyone else like to look too?” asked Yukino-kun.

“Sure,” I answered.

So we sat down next to him, as he skimmed through the book.

“This is making me a little dizzy,” his mother commented at some point, so she left.

Before long the other kids went off to play the board games I brought, or video games on the big screen t.v., so Yukino-kun shut the book and joined them.

Maybe I would join them.

But Jenga was too nervewracking even though I was the one to bring it, so perhaps a nice boardgame.

The Kaburagi family were celebrating the birth of new children again, this time a pair of twins.

“Your family sure has a lot of children…” I muttered.

“Masaya-niisama has a big family,” said Yukino-kun.

“Scamming the government for money, Masaya?” laughed Enjou.

“Shut it and send over the gifts already,” Kaburagi replied.

“Oh my. I seem to have found oil in my back yard.”

“That’s amazing, Reika-neesan! Next is Masaya-niisama’s turn. Oh, Masaya-niisama, your investments suffered a huge loss.”

“What the hell! This roulette has to be broken somehow!”

“Whatever, Masaya. The bank is waiting. Pay up.”

“Damn it!”

“Huh. So I get to seize property from one player?” mused Enjou. “Masaya it is then.”

“Haah!? Why the hell did you pick me!? Pick the person with the most money instead!”

“It was a process of elimination. The criteria was the one I’d feel the least bad taking from.”

“Fuck off!”

“Ah, I get to seize property too~” Yukino-kun exclaimed. “Please pay up, Masaya-niisama.”

His Majesty the Emperor was bankrupt.

The two Enjou brothers had mercilessly squeezed him for everything he had.

Kaburagi was in a terrible mood, but since Yukino-kun was having fun it wasn’t an issue.

Kaburagi looked like he was about to steam though.

What happened to the cool-headed and capable Emperor that everyone talked about?

You could really see people’s personalities by playing these sorts of games.

Kaburagi who boldly displayed the money he had on hand.

I, who hid my fortunes from view with a handkerchief.

Enjou who kept his money in plain view, but probably had secret stashes elsewhere.

Speaking of Enjou.

“I was surprised that you knew about these sorts of games, Kisshouin-san,” he said.

“Really?” I asked.

I suppose I did wonder if it was a bit too commoner before the party.

I wasn’t much older than my little sister in my old life so we used to play games like this a lot.

And for New Years when grandpa’s family, and all our cousins and stuff gathered, we’d all play board games or card games as well. It was really fun.

It was harder playing these games with siblings further from your age, so I thought it was fair if I indulged in these once in a while.

“One more time!”

“I’m done.”

“Running away, huh.”

“I’m not running away! I’m just sick of children’s games, that’s all.”

“You’re the most childish one here though.”

Kaburagi just clicked his tongue and stomped off.

Since the sucker of the game had run off, the three of us began playing peacefully with the new children who had come along.

At some point I heard shouts of amazement.

It turned out that Kaburagi had become a hero in Jenga.

“I won because of careful analysis and the courage to take a risk,” he proudly explained.

The fun passed in a flash, and soon it was time for the party to end.

They were all in primary school so it wouldn’t do to stay out late.

I was getting ready to leave too, when Enjou and his mother thanked me for coming.

“Thanks to you the party was even livelier. Thank you for coming today, Reika-san.”

“Yukino was overjoyed too,” added Enjou.

Yukino-kun himself came to thank me too.

“Thank you, Reika-oneesan,” he said with an angelic smile.

“Thank you very much for inviting me. I had a wonderful time. Goodbye for now.”

“Come play again.”

“Come again, Reika-neesan.”

With the children all gone, only Kaburagi was left.

Apparently he wasn’t leaving yet.

“Gokigen’yoh, Kaburagi-sama. I will be taking my leave first,” I said, meeting at least the bare minimum of etiquette.

“Yeah,” he said without lifting his head.

He was locked in a battle with the puzzles rings.

He was even frowning.

Kaburagi, that one’s aimed at experts, so I really don’t think you’ll get it tonight…

The Enjous saw me off at the doorway.

I was about to get into the car when another car arrived in front of the house.

From inside the car stepped Yuiko-san from the School Festival.

When she noticed me, she gave me a soft smile before walking towards the Enjous.

I got in my car and left.

  1. Game of Life is fun. Pretty short so we didn’t get a forever alone Reika joke. Well, it’s already been done in Gamers! so it probably wouldn’t be that funny if it happened.

“I got in my car and left.”
    Urgh, more Enjou shipping.

He’s actually a nice guy so there isn’t really any problems with that ship but for some reason….

    1. Village head already experience losing half of her eyebrow because of stress. She doesn’t need more. With the wakaba and kaburagi problem, she got a lot on her plate. Adding enjou with his baggage is a no no.

    2. As long as he’s the one making more of the effort to fix any holes in this ship (especially considering that the Yuiko problem is on HIS end), I’m keeping my shipping glasses.

      1. Picture Shuusuke, Yukino and Reika riding on a gondola.
Now picture Yuiko standing near the end of a pier then hopping over onto the gondola as it passes, except she doesn’t *quite* stick the landing. She lands near one of the edges and loses her balance, splashing everybody in the boat and causing everything to careen. Now nobody is happy.
        It’s like that.

    3. It fills me with disgust whenever I read shipping Enjou and Reika. Like seriously why you guys would do that? I’d rather have Kaburagi, Enjou can just go with that fianceé candidate of his.

      He’s just plain freaking annoying.

      1. I’m fond of ravens. Corvids are probably the smartest kind of bird.

Unlike crows, they’re bigger and so are a little closer to being a bird-of-prey than crows. They’re both scavengers, it’s just that the ravens have steak-knives for beaks and are actually serious threats to household pets if they have it in mind to attack one.

What this basically adds up to is that they have a well-deserved reputation for being tricksters on top of having some of the biggest brass balls around. Which means they punch above their weight-class when they shouldn’t otherwise be able to. I don’t know if they’re fearless or just excitement junkies. They seemingly to have no regard or respect for larger birds of prey.

So yeah, they’ll do things like luring dogs outside of yards and locking them out to get at the dogfood. Or fly over crow territory simply to antagonize them for personal amusement. Or tug on the tails of a bird of prey just to see what they’ll do. Or heck, participate in the mating rituals of the bald eagle simply because they can (they’re rather similar to raven ones). Or hide your keys for personal amusement.

Okay, so the point being, it’s essential to raven psychology to poke and prod at the environment. And at other animals. Even if well-fed, they get BORED. Which in turn, leads to their infamous tendency towards chicanery.

Richard Feynman is a physicist who also reminds me of this mentality, minus the crazy predatory raptor instincts. The dude spent most of his life testing the limits of his environment, sometimes with pranks or lies. And it’s this innate curiosity and need to actually explore everything that was part of what probably made him such a good physicist.

Suffice it to say, it’s a quality I admire.

Basically, Enjou is that sort of person. The rest of his life is inexpressibly dull. He’s also a people-watcher, with the vast majority of those people being uninteresting suck-ups. Nor do I regard his chicanery with distrust. If he wanted to really hurt Reika, he’d have done it long before now. And she gives him an outlet for having fun now-and-then.

No what he’s doing now is really closer to pulling on the hair of the girl he likes. It’s endearing to me.

          Did you just…

I am so very interested in getting to know Ved-san in real life, but my timid nature is telling me to escape with my wagging tail intact!

        2. What an amazing likening, haha!

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—
          Only this and nothing more.”

          Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December;
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Lenore—
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore—
          Nameless here for evermore.

And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
          Thrilled me—filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
“’Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door—
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door;—
This it is and nothing more.”

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
          “Sir,” said I, “or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you”—here I opened wide the door;—
          Darkness there and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
          Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, “Lenore?”
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, “Lenore!”—
          Merely this and nothing more.

Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
          “Surely,” said I, “surely that is something at my window lattice;
Let me see, then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore—
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;—
’Tis the wind and nothing more!”

Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
          In there stepped a stately Raven of the saintly days of yore;
          Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door—
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door—
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
“Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,” I said, “art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the Nightly shore—
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night’s Plutonian shore!”
          Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
          Though its answer little meaning—little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door—
Bird or beast upon the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
          With such name as “Nevermore.”

But the Raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing farther then he uttered—not a feather then he fluttered—
Till I scarcely more than muttered “Other friends have flown before—
On the morrow he will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before.”
          Then the bird said “Nevermore.”

Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
“Doubtless,” said I, “what it utters is its only stock and store
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful Disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till his songs one burden bore—
Till the dirges of his Hope that melancholy burden bore
          Of ‘Never—nevermore’.”

But the Raven still beguiling all my fancy into smiling,
          Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird, and bust and door;
Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore—
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore
          Meant in croaking “Nevermore.”

This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing
          To the fowl whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom’s core;
This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining
On the cushion’s velvet lining that the lamp-light gloated o’er,
But whose velvet-violet lining with the lamp-light gloating o’er,
          She shall press, ah, nevermore!

Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
“Wretch,” I cried, “thy God hath lent thee—by these angels he hath sent thee
          Respite—respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore;
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!”
          Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

“Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil!—prophet still, if bird or devil!—
Whether Tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted—
On this home by Horror haunted—tell me truly, I implore—
Is there—is there balm in Gilead?—tell me—tell me, I implore!”
          Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

“Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil!—prophet still, if bird or devil!
By that Heaven that bends above us—by that God we both adore—
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,
It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore—
Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore.”
          Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

“Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!” I shrieked, upstarting—
“Get thee back into the tempest and the Night’s Plutonian shore!
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my loneliness unbroken!—quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!”
          Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
          On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon’s that is dreaming,
          And the lamp-light o’er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
          Shall be lifted—nevermore!

THE RAVEN by E. A. Poe

Now go reread the poem by changing “Lenore” to “Wakaba”, and assume the scholar was Bakaburagi or Reika lamenting to Enjou The Raven 😂

        3. I’m also a big fan of intelligent characters, and I very much love the back and forth of two witty characters or antagonism between the main leads in my romance stories. It just adds so much spice to the interactions and makes it that much more interesting 😁

          Nice analysis, too.

  2. to be honest, I want those three childhood friend have their own patner from outside their circle. (well, wakaburagi ship is exception though.) So they will stay as “close friends.”

  3. Their personalities shown through the way they handle their money while playing the board game [Life/Monopoly I presume].. Reika perception of Enjou is as black belly and cunning as ever. Though Reika herself hide the extent of her own wealth~

    Liked by 25 people

    1. yeah but she hides ALL of it , showing everybody the fact that she is not a sucker and doesn’t trust any of them, the “public” kind of cunning.
Enjou shows half and hides half meaning his money (just like him) has 2 faces, the sneaky black belly type of cunning.

      Liked by 21 people

      1. I personally think it indicates her cowardice. Reika’s notion of cunning is to bury every skeleton deep down in the closet of shame. She has a lot to hide, from missing eyebrows, extra weight and her friendship with the mere commoners.

        Liked by 9 people

      2. Reika didn’t realize one of the reason she could see Enjou’s true self was because they’re people of the same side of coins, just differed in their left-right bearings XD

        Liked by 5 people

      3. Omg. Because of what you said, I reread this chapter again and it kinda makes sense. Like, Reika hiding all her money = she hides her true self—even in front of her family it feels likes she keeps a facade and doesn’t show her true thoughts, Enjou= two sides of him exist, the sparkly him and the cunning Enjou. Bakaburagi= he shows himself all through out so when things don’t go his way, he’ll easily break down type of person. Dang. I’m getting chills or that I’m just really slow 🌚😂😂 then again there was this reminder, “You could really see people’s personalities by playing these sorts of games.”
        Wonder what was Yukino’s

  4. Take that sucker, I mean Bakaburagi. Lololololololol the richest out of all of them gets bankrupted in a game!

And there goes the new girl?(who gave me a bad feeling when she first appeared) (I think she’s a cousin who intends to seize the Enjou fortune)

  5. Picturing Reika-sama as a low profile, secretly filthy rich oil baroness is priceless 😂 …and oddly fitting.

I actually don’t mind Yuiko, just keep Enjou away from our village chief. The village must have a leader 😗

The target where all her curses shall end up at.

The actual reasons why the author was unable to make the way for Reika’s prince on white horse.

The cosmic force that caused her to be single. Until now at least – because Reinjou Cult cosmic power is coming to cleanse Reika of your filthy omens!!!

    1. Yeah! And what the heck is she even doing, showing up late like that? Trying to get personal time with Enjou on his brother’s birthday?! SO INSINCERE!

Bet all these are within her calculations.

Something like “I heard She is coming to Yukino’s birthday tonight…Hmm…Fufu. Let’s show up just as She is leaving to overwrite Her impressions on Aunty, to deter and intimidate Her by my appearance, and also to clean Her effects on the house afterwards. Shuu can only be mine!”

(Lol’d at our prejudiced stance 😂 we haven’t even confirm her personalities yet// but she really seems to be of the “white lotus” template)

  6. Aaaaah! Bakaburagi!! Nani-sama daaaaa!!!! To think you’d use even Yukino’s bday to woo Wakaba, dare to come late and unconsciously wish for an ill omen to the angel Yukino, may divine retribution fall into your second pursuit of love life.

Anyways, with this chapter one can really see how evil–cough* I mean meticulous mind even on a game of life. Srsly, I died…what’s with that oversize family? and Haraguro Enjou squeezing and forcing him hard to bankruptcy Then came jenga…it was the first time i’ve heard of someone doing statistical analysis in order to win jenga with kids as opponents.

Though that Yuiko…is definitely gonna target Reika-sama. uuuh…just thinking how the EnjouxReika shippers will react…RIP yuiko

    ( ✧Д✧) YES!!

      1. Yeah, but she still irk me…

Oh well. That’s what a favorite character’s love rival should do, I guess.

      2. well thinking about it in that way it kinda feels like maybe with Yuiko’s appearance they’d get closer together? I mean, the whole story plot with Kimidol has long gone awry with how Reika-sama is but with the exception of course, of that idiot emperor falling for Wakaba. -.-

  7. It has to be Enjou. Though he’s always got Reika-Sama on the edge, it is because he understands her best. He can read her like a book for Christ’s sake! Daunting, it may be. But for her who thinks too much, it would be a good fit.

  8. Who called it?! I need to reread the comments from the last chapter because YOU WERE RIGHT!!! Bakaburagi DID go stalk-bother-visiting Wakaba beforehand O.0

Oh wow, I was confused until I realized it was a game they were playing XDD I somehow feel the foreshadowing of their future in this, with the Enjou’s puppeteering in the background and Bakaburagi posturing even after suffering a humiliating defeat XDDD (although, Yukino’s “angelic” personality is getting more skewed ^^’)

    Gerk- why’d this have to end with her showing up? >{

Thanks so much for this chapter release! The first part was a lot of fun XDXD

    1. I think with Yukino, most of us already had that inkling that there’s no way he’s made of 100% pureness, rainbows, and unicorns. I mean, he’s THAT Enjou’s little brother y’know!! THAT HARAGURO!! Who can squeeze you out of your everything despite on the verge of bankruptcy with lots of mouths to feed, while smiling with an innocent look that says “Eh~ but it’s your fault you know? who told you not to use condoms or protection while doing it? Isn’t it all part of the game”…

But we are all letting it be, cause…Yukino is sooo adorable!! xDD

but really now, I almost forgot about that Yuiko girl XD!
Well, I wonder what change will she bring to Reika-sama’s everyday life!! Looking forward to it ;)

  10. Thanks for the chapter!

It also possible to be a new friend for Reika. Same development with Sakura-chan. Because we doesn’t really any her personality aside her name…

Anyway, I am looking forward to see, what change this Yuiko will brought… 😊

  11. “Oh my. I seem to have found oil in my back yard.”

I love that I can imagine the exact tone of voice here. And Enjou brothers both being sweet on Reika and picking on Kaburagi even though she was probably leading the game. <3.

Is it weird that I wish Reika just straight out called him out on visiting Wakaba? I can only imagine his reaction if he realizes a) she knows everything, b) she doesn't actually care, c) she's the one closest to Wakaba amongst his friends. Yes, friend, even if Reika is too oblivious to realize it.

It'd be hilariously troublesome. Either Kaburagi forces her to play matchmaker or starts a one-sided rivalry to be the closer one to Wakaba.

  12. “It was a process of elimination. The criteria was the one I’d feel the least bad taking from.” = Enjou feels bad about taking from Reika! fellow Enjou x Reika rejoice! This chapter was GOLD! I loved the teaming up against Kaburagi. lolol

    Thanks for the chapter!

    1. Also this.

“Yukino was overjoyed too,” added Enjou.

Nope. How to read this part:

“Shuusuke was overjoyed too,” added Enjou.

Yep. That’s the truth that went unsaid.

  13. The whole Yuiko showing up thing is definitely a sign that the ship is gonna be Reika x Enjou. It’d be pointless to have a love rival around if there wasn’t going to be love so personally I am all for Yuiko showing up.

    1. Yuiko’s timing is just AWFUL. Yukino already seems to hate her and Shu is indifferent to her existence at best. Showing up right after a party to fawn on him? That’s not a great move. If she made an appointment for the next day even. Reika will look like a saint by comparison.

  14. Thanks for the chapter!
Ok ok. For the first time I’ve got to admit Kaburagi has some great taste. Escher’s drawings are inherently interesting, and I’d say he’s my favorite artist by far. He plays with perspective, self-reference and even hyperbolic geometries.

    1. Escher came out as a topic for my last art classes. I must say, his pieces are simply fascinating! All those mathematical references you could sense from it…ufufufu.

  15. Thank you for the chapter:)
    just a little correction..
“Masaya, don’t tell ‘my’ you were late because you went to get that?”
I think it’s supposed to be ‘me’ right?

Since I was an adult I left the strawberries for the kids.

Even though cream with strawberries was delicious.

Even though I loved that stuff.

I was an adult after all.

    hehe. you’re really a good adult, Reika-san😉
though for me even as a child I would leave the strawberry out and just ate the delicious cake and cream.. It’s just not to my liking, often too sour😅

What happened to the cool-headed and capable Emperor that everyone talked about?

hahaha. Kaburagi is so childish as expected by everyone in the game😛
that cool-headed and capable is only the image, the exterior of his appearance maybe?🤔
while Shuusuke and Yukino certainly are true siblings😂
make me wondering if actually all of the Enjou family are black-bellied angels, wolves in sheep clothing?😨😱

and it’s really such a joy to see the three of them (Reika, Shuusuke, Masaya) and our adorable angel Yukino played themself to the fullest.. such a rare occasion that needs to be memorized well.. but it’s no doubt, admitting to it or not, they are already ‘really’ friends since long time ago..😊😄😆

  16. Thanks for the chapter man! Just a question though, i came to syosetu only to see that the WN is somehow at a standstill. Do you have any information about that?

    1. Can you imagine Reika goes OOC just then?

“Stop right there!” I shouted at her back, etiquette and proprietary all went out of my head.

I can see the Enjous’ eyes widening as they were startled.

I walked confidently towards Yuiko, as she stared at me bemusedly.

Leaning over to her ear as I gave her a reassuring smile, I then whispered,

“Girl, you’re bleeding, aren’t you? You really shouldn’t overestimate yourself and wear white. Huhu. Or you’ll be dubbed as Bloody Yuiko…”

Alright, no offense for the girls. Just kidding XD

  17. Ah, careful Yukino, your black belly is showing… But Yurie-senpai DID overlook Kaburagi’s black belly at that age so maybe Yukino’s doing okay. Probably…
At least his frail body won’t allow him to go on a suicide spot tour when his heart gets broken :|

  18. Thanks for the chapter! This is great a great chapter, and I love the way their personalities showed in their gaming xD. Our lil devious Yukino tho ahaha~ and eeee ship still sailing!!

  19. The Emperor in black’s family, which had many children (includes a pair of twins) went bankrupt…
Sounds like a title on a newspaper :))

The creepy Yuiko appeared, the freaked out Reika disappeared lol
Reika-the adult will buy a big cake with a lot of strawberries from Wakaba’s store later, so you children eat up, no worry :’>

  20. Kaburagi is so stupid I can’t…. And the tag team between the brothers to bankrupt the guy! LOLOLOL But that girl who came after the party. That sly smile does nothing to Reika-chan. Not a dent.
    Many thanks~

  21. The Kaburagi family were celebrating the birth of new children again, this time a pair of twins.

My reaction at the sudden ‘intro’: “WHAT, IS IT TIME-SKIP WHAT PLEASE PLEASE YES” then “no…” after reading the next sentences. LOL

“Your family sure has a lot of children…” I muttered.

    “Masaya-niisama has a big family,” said Yukino-kun.

“Scamming the government for money, Masaya?” laughed Enjou. (FORESHADOW?!)

“Shut it and send over the gifts already,” Kaburagi replied.

Hahahaha this is a very heartwarming and lovely chapter. Thanks Este-sama for awesome translations as always! 😍

    1. I also thought Kaburagi was having baby siblings. That’d be amusing 😆

Yukino, Enjou’s angelic brother. Can we have dignified and domineering himedere-tsundere little brother-sister twins next? Name them Miyuki and Masayuki, please, so we can have a collection of snow-themed angels for Reika’s future healing session.

Oh my, sorry Mao-chan and Yuuri-chan. I forgot you’re already here. Hehe.

  22. 4 players, first one was a sly emperor, the second was his brother prince, the cunning fox girl carefully kept her 3rd place with her tails well hidden.
the last one was a big shoot inherited boy, who mercilessly preyed by 3 others till the last cent of him.

    1. just imagine their future
Enjou’s brothers are extremely smart and sly, their business would surely success
Reika would likely jumps in her family businesses, worrying about her father playing dirty. She might not smart but her carefulness is extreme. Her wrath is worser than tornadoes . So she and her brother could manage their family business as well.
but think about Kaburagi… that guy is hopeless, he has good head but only used it to charge head on into one sided love , he did what he pleased in the business parties as well as someone else party. Reika totally kill off his chance to mature when she helped him with his childhood crush… i can totally see the future him being bankrupted because of the show off habit, maybe he will inherit Wakaba’s father cake shop ? lol

  23. thnx for the chapter

and really masaya and his stalker tendencies sigh…i hope wakaba can be strong

  24. This makes me wonder how Reika celebrates her birthdays. I mean, she’s our beloved tanuki princess, so she definitely celebrates, but she might’ve convinced her folks she likes private things rather than lavish parties. If she did have parties, I wonder if she would just invite Serika and company. Sakurako and Akizuki would be safe bets, too. Probably not Aoi… I wonder if she had fun little things like this when she was in elementary school, or if they would mostly talk so Reika could maintain her image. If she still has gatherings, I wonder if she invites Mao, Yukino, and Yuri. She never mentions anything, though, so maybe she just celebrates with her family…

  25. I wish you can go faster with the translation. I would love to see people’s reaction tp the upcoming chapters.

    Oh well, beggars can’t choose

  26. That Game of Life was fantastic! The Enjou brothers squeeze Bakaburagi dry and he gets in an extremely foul temper. Such childish people are tiring to be around. I wonder how Enjou has put up with it all these years. At least he redeemed his planet sized ego with his little kid Jenga win 😎

  27. “Running away, huh.”

“I’m not running away! I’m just sick of children’s games, that’s all.”

“You’re the most childish one here though.”
<< someone (Enjou) FINALLY said it out loud to the baka! lol Both Reika and Enjou are of one mind when it comes to Kaburagi. haha
