Everybody, please check the FAQ first before asking me questions.
If it’s not on there, please feel free and ask. I only get annoyed at questions when the same one has been asked 10+ times, and by then I’ll have updated the FAQ.
Thank you for your consideration, guys!
It’s been a while. Sorry for the wait! With this chapter begins Reika’s adventures in Zuiran’s middle school section. (:
I’ve entered Zuiran’s middle school section.
The blazer jacket has changed from navy to white, and is quite a cute design. The wine coloured striped ribbon just accentuates that cuteness, and even though it’s only been a month since I’ve entered, just changing the uniform makes me look like quite the oneesan. How mysterious.
Now that we’ve entered middle school, 30% of our cohort is now new students who entered after taking an exam, the Externals.
And this new group of students managed to get into our school after rigorous examinations, so they’re all really smart.
In general, Zuiran students just ride the figurative escalator up from primary school, excluding special circumstances. Because of that, people sometimes talk about how the Internal Students are less bright than the Externals.
Once we enter high school, there are going to be even smarter kids coming in. In fact, by the time we’re in high school, with the exception of a small group of students, it’s the kids who have been here since primary that people take to be the dumbest.
But then usually the Internals themselves don’t really mind, so I guess that’s fine. They’re at least not dumber than your normal kid after all.
From the staff’s perspective though, it wouldn’t be good for the traditional and prestigious Zuiran to be seen as a den of idiots. That’s why they gather smart kids from outside to make up for it.
Thanks to Zuiran’s brand power, as well as their splendid facilities and teaching content, we’ve got strong popularity, so it’s not a problem gathering gifted students at all.
Particularly exceptional students are even taken as scholarship students, so they’re exempted from school fees. And amongst them, those that perform above a certain level in the national mock exams are even given scholarship money that doesn’t need to be returned.
In other words, they’re buying academic ranks with money in order to preserve the school’s honour, right?
Kimidol’s protagonist also entered Zuiran as a scholarship student.
She entered Zuiran because she didn’t want to pay school fees. What’s more, if she tried hard, she could even make money from the scholarship system there, which is why she wanted in. But when she entered, their sense of money value was just too different from hers, and she suffered quite a culture shock.
And well, yeah. Normally a school wouldn’t do things on such a crazy scale.
I know how she felt because I experienced the same thing when I entered as a primary school student.
‘What the hell is this!? This isn’t how I remembered primary schools!’ I thought with my mouth agape.
But she’ll definitely get used to it, so three years from now, I hope the protagonist will give it her all.
The biggest difference between the primary section, and the middle-high sections is the existence of the Student Council.
The Student Council is a meritocratic organisation formed from good students.
In comparison, the Pivoine stresses lineage, pedigree, and assets more than individual power, and only people who can fulfil these and have been purebred Zuiran students since primary are allowed in.
The Pivoine think of themselves as the true embodiment of Zuiran, and because of that the Student Council are an arrogant and loathesome group of outsiders. On the other hand, the Pivoine’s power doesn’t come from their members as individuals, so the Student Council thinks of them as a harmful group that only knows how to abuse their power.
Although the traditionalist Pivoine and the meritocratic Student Council don’t butt heads on the surface, friction between them goes back a long time.
I don’t know what kind of person the incumbent Student Council President is, but I hope they don’t kick up a fuss while I’m here.
The middle and high school students belong to the same Pivoine. The Petite Pivoine in primary is in the end just an extra, and the middle-high section Pivoine is the real thing.
When I opened the door to the salon, I was met with furniture known for its beautiful curves, as well as flower arrangements of moth orchids and other spring flowers.
There was even a grand piano by the window.
I became particularly fond of this one-person sofa by the wall, with this cute art noveau style lamp next to it, so I ended up sitting here most of the time I went to the salon.
How nice. This lamp is so cute. I want one for my room too.
Since the salon was shared by both middle and high school students, Yurie-sama was naturally there too. Emperor seemed incredibly happy, since it was the first time in years they had been enjoying school together.
He tried to hide it, but the corners of his mouth would curve up. He’s pretty easy to understand.
Lately he hasn’t been acting like a stalker either, and perhaps as a result of Yurie-sama’s teachings, apparently he can think about others too now. I guess he matured as a human, huh~
As long as he’s with his beloved Yurie-sama, Emperor is always in a good mood, so I’ll probably be able to relax for another two years. Thank goodness.
“Reika-san, have you gotten used to the middle school section?”
Aira-sama came over to talk to me with some sweets in hand.
Today’s was sachertorte, a type of chocolate cake with apricot jam.
Seeing the lustrous chocolate made me gulp.
“Yes. Being able to go to the school cafeteria instead of being given a school lunch was quite a fresh experience.”
Once you enter middle school here, you can choose whether to go to the cafeteria or to bring lunch from home. The cafeteria seems like your normal fancy restaurant. Pretty much everything on the menu is over 2000 Yen. Quite expensive for your average student. It’s delicious though.
I’ve actually got this secret goal of conquering every item on the menu, so for now I’m one of the kids that goes to the cafeteria.
And even in the cafeteria there are exclusive seats for the Pivoine. They’re seated by the window in this well lit area.
Speaking of which, in Kimidol there was this one scene, wasn’t there. The protagonist had no idea that it was Pivoine exclusive, and tried to sit down there, displeasing them.
Yeah. Try your best, protagonist. Although, the one who was the most angry and shouted “A commoner would dare!? Know your place!” was actually Kisshouin Reika though.
“Are things going well with the External Students?”
“Well, there is still a wall between us, you could say.”
“Well, I suppose there would be.”
There are roughly ten External kids in each class. Unlike the scholarship students that will enter in the high school section, the Externals in middle school are still kids from families who can pay Zuiran’s expensive school fees. Because of that, there isn’t too much of a difference in their sense for spending money.
That’s why I think we’ll all settle down after a while. Probably.
I’m still thinking about whether or not to enter a club. There isn’t anything I really want to do after all.
Oniisama suggested that I enter the cooking club, but the activity days overlap with my lessons.
I also have my cram school and lessons with Karin-sensei as well. The first test since middle school is coming up soon, so I’m pretty busy at the moment.
Lately I’ve sort of been getting a lot of “as expected of Reika-sama” so I’m secretly struggling really hard not to let my true colours show.
Especially maths. Maths is suffering to me.
I remembered the word ‘factorisation’ but I’d completely forgotten what it entails. I just barely remembered that it has something to do with x and y. What the hell is going on with my memory.
Did I really learn this in my last life? I did, right? I mean, it’s part of the compulsory curriculum.
Since I felt a huge crisis impending, I had Karin-sensei drill it into me.
I’d already decided to stop expecting anything academic from the past me. I should have already known as much after my experience in the primary school section…
But I just keep having these faint hopes.
There’s no such thing as miracles though.
I guess I’ll just keep trying my best from scratch…

Now that is such a big flag, Miss President. :)

Reika!!!!! The Emperor seems to be maturing, but he will never learn, huh?
Well, this makes it so that the Heroine might never conquer him, so that’s okay. And I like Yurie, too.
However, I’m eternally suspicious of the Emperor’s sidekick.
I dont need her to conquer him, but just be superior when it comes to mental fights. Grow a backbone girl!

Well, I was talking about the not yet appearing “Heroine”, but yeah, Reika, you need a good dose of revenge.
Reika, the reason your brother wanted you to attend the cooking club is so you don’t unconsciously torture him again. Please, if you love your brother at least take a class.

Lol! A shame that her past memories on school didn’t carry over well. Onii-sama will just have to endure her cooking for many years to come.

I want to see more of reika brocon moment. Haha. And of course the grand entrance of the ‘protag’.
Heroine doesn’t even show up till 70s. We’re all gonna grow old waiting
(This isn’t a spoiler, right? I mean… the chapters were right there on the project page and was posted waaay before this one)
Thanks for the chapter!
Is this the first time we’ve heard about her tutor Karin-sensei? I don’t think she was mentioned in previous chapters.
Karin gets introduced in chapter 37, as the extra tutor for our silly protagonist.
Also thanks for the chapter

I have a feeling that she will be the one who will unite the school as a member of Pivone and the Student Council President. She may be struggling academically, but that may actually turn out to be her own perspective and that she may actually be very good. This is what I can see from the clues that foreshadow potential plots. In otome gaming terms, she triggered the student council president flag.
I so hope she becomes the president. It kind of feels like there is a big chance it will happen, but there is this gut feeling in me that tells me it won’t. Whatever happens in the end, I’m pretty sure she will not like the idea and if she doesn’t end up in the position there’ll be funny shenanigans with the president.
Thanks for the chapter!

thank you very much—!
-nods- so we now have the externals, huh? lol, that school! well, yeah, seriously awesome facilities, ahaha! hm–! lol, kaburagi…hmph, i don’t care about him! what about some enjou and reika moments?? yes, yes?? ahem, got a bit desperate there, but anyway…new experiences, let’s go—!
I don’t like Enjou that much either ahaha
lol! i understand, but i’d rather reika and enjou than her and kaburagi! i am waiting for a better person to ship reika with—potential love interest for reika, come—!
ah, there are plenty of nice (mostly taken) guys
the mostly taken part is the problem—! it’s either mostly taken or going to be taken! wah— there should be someone available and good for reika that i can ship reika with!why— -dramatically sobs-
Who said that Enjou isn’t taken though.

at the current moment, he isn’t—(revealed to be)?! well, good point. until the story says he is, i’ll just ship him with reika! the girl he dates will get bullied too, though, unless she is has as powerful a family background as he does. enjou’s fangirls are also terrifying! -shakes head-
Is this spoiler? Is Enjou taken?
Sigh, other than him, there is no other decent single guy beside onisama. And too bad I cannot ship Reika with him.
i know that feel—! though, you don’t count kaburagi a single, it seems?
anyway, i’m glad i feel that enjou and reika are pretty good together, otherwise, having no one to ship the wonderful and cute reika with would be so sad—-!
who’s karin sensei again?
also, yamete-kun, are there still no talk about reika sama getting an LN of her own? it feel strange because even that monkey and buriko got their own novels published, you know…
nah, no LN.
likely it is because the story is too slice of life which while not bad in an ongoing format doesn’t translate to well into a LN format. There really aren’t real big events until around ch 40 to cap off a novel. The monkey and Buriko are much less slice of life.
Eetto, I know whose the monkey, its Katarina sama yes? But who is the burikko person you are saying? And what is burikko? Is it a horse perhaps?
The other series on this blog.
Reika-san…. your previous self was obviously more interested in otome games by the time she got to factorization…. XD

That… is not really that surprising.
I was like that at her age too… ><

Yeah, but it’s surprising to HER, and that’s why it’s so funny XD
Thanks 4 the chapter!
Conquering every item in the menu. She really is passionate about food (eating), though for her oniisan sake I hope she learns more about food (cooking).

Thank you very much
She either joins the student council, most likely along with that snobby kid, or gets misunderstood by the council and gets targeted by them…
*Squeals in joy* Rei-chan! Rei-chan is back-deshi!! Hooray!! Thank you Sheep-chan! Ganbarre Rei-chan.
Thanks for the chapter :)
hohoho~! Now this is a flag raiser chapter, lol~!
And here I am, thinking that Reika might be one of the member of the Student Council, kukuku…~! If so, then that really is something to look forward to~ :)

Hello thank you for the chapter and i want to ask if there is going to be a chapter of bathroom goddess soon since i like it.
Oh! I totally forgot about it! Sure, I’ll tl one tomorrow or something!
She never mentions her actually grades but it looks like they are actually pretty good. It’s just a struggle to keep them up.
When Aira comes over she automatically brings sweets. I guess she understands Reika pretty well.
So interested in how Reika deals with the MC. I couldn’t stop myself from skipped ahead to the translated high school chapters.
so this is how Reika and the protagonist will first interact huh?
Thxxx for the chapter~~
Thanks so much for the chapter!
Thank you for the chapter. Great work!
Thank you very much for the chapter, Sharlulu-Chan! If I wasn’t already having some delicious food while reading this, my sweet tooth would be flaring up.

I’m glad I thought to check it today.
I finally caught up~
I can’t wait until the next chapter lol ;D
Reika-sama is awesome! I wish she would grow a backbone but she learned how to say “no”, which is an improvement.
She didn’t take the hint about joining the cooking club lol ;3
I feel like she’ll be the student council president… either way, she jinxed herself
Thank for the update
