Evil God Average

Evil God Average

written by Kitaseno Yunaki(北瀬野ゆなき)
Translations: Estelion
Proofreading: Readers

When she stands, she’s like a white peony. When she sits, she’s like a tree peony. When she walks, she’s like a lily flower. And when you look her in the eyes, she’s like the Great King of Terror.
Despite having the qualities to be a peerless bishoujo, because of the look of her eyes and that atmosphere of hers, she’s feared by others; such a girl is forcefully sent to another world.
Being told that she would be granted a wish as a special favour, the girl made a wish────

“Make my eyes and atmosphere normal please.”

This is a story recounting the lifestyle in a parallel world of a girl who would be perfect (probably) if just her one weakpoint was overcome.

A fantasy comedy with magic, dungeons, and a hero and demon king(candidate) who she gets tangled up with.
She’s cursed though.

Think of it as throwing money at the Kitaseno-sensei and Takarajimasha, and getting a book with squiggles and pretty pictures as a pleasant extra.

You might be thinking, ‘Well, do I owe any thanks to the publisher, Takarajimasha?’, but in fact it is because the publishers are so willing to pick up web novels that so many creative stories are being written by people wanting to make it as writers.
Plus, you’ll be supporting Kitaseno-sensei. I say this twice, because it is important.

  3. Hello please how many chapters does the originals story have? And is it allready finished or is the original author still continuing it?

  4. Lmao this synopsis is great! I can’t believe I missed it all this time. Estelion is this a synopsis you translated, or did someone write it up? Omg so she gets entangled with heroes and demon kings (candidates at least). X.x Now I’m even more interested lol. Maybe I’ll do some re-reading while I wait.

I have nothing against teasers haha. I’ll read anything that I find interesting. Maybe you mistook me for someone else?

I usually read on my phone browser. I have an email app on my phone so when a new comment or post comes in it notifies me. The perks of following your favorite blogs!

Using a phone does make it more inconvenient to post responses but as a plus your not limited to a single location.

U know why? Maybe, n just maybe, that bescause my mind always imagined the MC who is a girl, being raped T.T

    Like

      1. I know lol. Aside from H stuff, stories with girl MCs that get raped are very rare. Almost non-existent in fact x.x

In fact, it’s much more likely for their to be rape in stories that have male MCs so such a concern seems off to me.

  7. Thanks for finding this — it’s really quite charming and the involuntary divine protections are all good for a laugh.

Somehow I keep seeing Anri as Dark Grasper even though that’s clearly wrong since she doesn’t wear glasses. (If she did, I wonder how they’d get upgraded?)

  8. Hmmm……

Manga Updates has the genres as Action, Romance, Shoujo and Supernatural

I pegged this more as a comedy and I can’t sense any romance flag at all (unless she get a male slave later on since everything is scared of her).

    1. Um, I never said I was dropping this, so why…?

I mean, if you want to do your own version, please start at chapter 1, and don’t piggyback off my effort. We generally don’t snipe each other in this community unless somebody is being a dickhead, or is posting terrible translations.

As for handing it over to somebody else, if I was going to give it to anybody, it’d be Vidar who I know, and not you.

        1. It’s not protocol, it’s just… Idunno. Etiquette? If you didn’t mean anything, then that’s the best outcome, since you aren’t a bad translator at all, and I always get really excited when another translator joins the community.

Only, if you want to translate Jashin, please start from chapter 1. If you do that, I’ll link your blog as an alternate translation and encourage people to read both for a better feeling.

Otherwise, well… are you sure there isn’t any other project you’d like to pick up? The second last thing I’d want to do is discourage you.

If you need a recommendation of something fantasy with relatively easy Japanese, I can give you a bunch. I know of a bunch with really interesting premises too (although more boring execution). Also, I know a bunch with boring sounding premises, but really interesting execution!

  9. I will take down site tomorrow and start on a new series under a different name. Didn’t know how the process works so this was the only way I knew how to get started. Sorry for all the trouble. Have a series in mind with no translators currently….

    Like

    1. There’s no need? You can leave that chapter up just fine, unless you wanted to change the name or something…

Also, no chance you’ll use a wordpress? I think they’re prettier (at least when we’re comparing both free versions of blogspot and wordpress).

Finally, like I said, I don’t have anything against you personally. It’s just an issue of Jashin. If you don’t dislike me, then send me a message when you’ve got your next series start, or even just a website and synopsis.

I’ll make an announcement for you, and help get people reading. Add you to blogroll if I think your story is interesting too. God knows we need more translators in this community, and even one more person that can actually speak Japanese is a godsend.

Also, by inexperienced, you mean that you don’t read much raw Japanese right? Learning about it is great, but reading a lot helps.

For one thing, フォローする generally means to follow up on somebody’s comment or error. Sometimes your own.

Maybe read some syosetsu novels first to get better acquainted with how Japanese phrase things? It helped me a lot. My first translations (not published here) were really inaccurate as well, because although I learnt Japanese properly, I just lacked experience with novels and other fiction prose.

Though there are situations a bit serious, but they’re approached light-heartedly, so everything’s fi—–ne! -fangirls- I’ve really enjoyed reading this, and I hope you’ll translate this all the way to the end! 1. Monkey ojousama is Destruction Flag Otome right, just to be clear? (I shou—-ld be right, i haven’t seen any others similar-style stories with a main character called monkey, haha)
Uurgh…I-I can’t. I’m just enjoying seeing all of them becoming intertwined by Katarina’s kindness and charm! Oooh….!! (I’ve been charmed by her myself, like i’ve said, lol) All of the harem members have their own appeal, and I haven’t found one I dislike.I think the author’s style of writing has helped greatly with that, enabling the reader to understand the thinkings of the writer!
however, as of the latest chapter, I’m very excited to see what happens next. Honestly, i think it’d be really interesting to see Katarina leave her family and become a commoner, lol. That’d make a good story, too!

          1. Better put [SPOILER] first, ’cause there’s i’m totally going to do it, lol. Keith? I find him hilarious, and yeah, he totally has it tough! The heroine’s immuned to his sexy aura, and that scene where Nico laughs, and his words after, totally had me laughing. Since his closest to her(arguable, but they live in the same house, hey?), he probably finds it hard to …to…resist! But it’s pretty clear that he’s allied with Katarina’s mother to stop her from continuing to be engaged to the prince, because he wants her for himself, lol!
Ye—-s! Katarina’s awfully cute!I’m totally a fan of hers!So many scenes where she’s also admirable at the same time. The way she interests all of them , and pulls them in umknowingly, it’s very entertaining, but also, touching too!-continues gushing like a fangirl-
Ooh Mary! Yeah, she’s the most extreme among the girls! But we all know she wouldn’t go over the limit! Though, when there was the chapter on the maid’s perspective, I was so amused that Mary actually made preparations after having the conversation with Katarina about breaking you their engagements! How sly! Still adorable, though!
Though honestly, I can’t tell if the Katarina will end up with someone? She hasn’t shown any development in feelings? But i’m fine with the way things are, though! What do you think?

            1. I’ve sort of read to the end, so I’m not sure how to reply, but yeah. If you’re talking about the harem with the clueless master, yes, I’m quite fine with things being that way too.

Katarina is really quite adorable. An ojousama that’s actually a big monkey inside. I couldn’t help but envision her former self as that chick from aho-girl (the manga).

              Liked by 1 person

              1. Oh, you’ve read to the end? Co—ol! Don’t tell me anything though, please! It’s about the journey(the reading), haha! Harem with the clueless master? Do you mean the Bojikko one?
Oh, yes! Katarina’s just wa—–y too cute! A girl character that adorable and charming, this is one of the rare few! I think the way the author writes also helps with that, since we can see different perspectives, and so, we can also see how she charms the others. -trembles because it’s much too cute-
but indeed, the contrast of an ojousama with a monkey inside is really great, but exciting! Though I am glad that she can at least reign in some of her energy for tea parties. It shows that at least she has some self-control and discipline. I don’t read aho-girl, though it’s cool that you envision Katarina’s former self that way!
Though when you talk about former self, I remember that chapter where it was about Sophia’s former self and I just..-sob!- that was a really nice twist that the author gave! I really liked it!

And we are now friends on Skype! <:

Katarina is the clueless harem master. Smashes faggots like Kirito any day!

Yeah, I loved that twist too. Who would've thought that Sophia was actually…

Uh…i’ll just comment on both, since it ties in with this conversation, and it’s good to put comments on posts?(probably copy pasta a bit,yo) It ends after the last character has been captured? NO—–!-sobs- i was looking forward to more occurrences and seeing more of the cute Katarina.-secretly prays for a sequel, even if i know the chances are pretty low- i want to see more of Katarina the Adorable!
Friends on Skype FTW! I have Skype friends due to novels too! It started from being on the website chat(chatango), then it moved to Skype, lol. Though i still type on Skype, anyway. All the group members read ‘Legendary Moonlight Sculptor’, a korean novel on virtual reality.
Clueless harem master–! Though i like that , at least, the author doesn’t focus too much(To my taste) on her cluelessness ehen it comes to romance. ‘Faggots like kirito’ you say…? I didn’t read nor watch Sword Art Online either though…i watched, what, a part ofthe first episode then stopped. I am extre—mely picky, lol.
i know, i know! The twist in sophia’s chapter! The sob just escaped. Those feels, though…very excellent twist, certainly!
i wonder who are the others Katarina still has to capture, though, hm…

half-kidding? I totally agree with you, though? Katarina is totally, a lot more, wa—-y more awesome that Kirito. She’s so adorable, and actually,I think she’s pretty cool, too—-!

                    2. Kirito fan? Haha, no, i neither watch nor read Sword Art Online, it’s just not my type…i got bored within the first part of the anime, lol. He is a boring character, indeed. Of course, the wonderful, charming, cute Katarina is a lo—-t better than him…! -still hoping for sequel-I think in terms of virtual reality novels, i’ve found that the korean ones like Ark and Legendary Moonlight Sculptor have been better than the japanese ones i’ve tried.
Oh, by the way, you read Chinese novels? Do you read Yu Wo’s novels?

                      Like

                    3. Yeah, I read Chinese webnovels and stuff. Coiling Dragon etc.
All the stuff where crazy dudes kill at the drop of a hat because somebody failed to give the face.

Um, Yu Wo? Yep. I tried half prince and absolutely hated it, especially the ending with the randoms joining in on a terrorist raid or whatever… but Legend of the Sun Knight was really fun, and I really liked it.

Hm, I tried Legendary Moonlight Sculptor and found it to be even worse than Japanese stuff lol. Maybe it’s just me, but the MC and the setting was just ridiculous.

                    4. Coiling Dragon? Is it translated? Ah, sounds like, hm…i’m thinking Douluo Dalu does fall under that martial arts type kind of category you mentioned. I like those martial arts genre too, though it of course depends on specifics.
Yeah, i dislike some of Yu Wo’s novels too.lik you said, Half-prince was pretty good in the beginning, but then after it went to a direction different from what i was expecting, i was, just…’i’m close to the end, i’ll just read it to finish it’.it was ok. I feel that way about Kill No More too…
But, i agree! Legend of the Sun Knight is really fun! PrinceRevolution is still translating it, but they’re already at the last novel. I don’t intend to read the sequel of it, though. However, Female Warrior was quite interesting to me, and i’m looking forward to when Yu Wo starts going in detail about it, instead of just the two prologue volumes she’s released.
Another two I currently adore is No Hero, though i don’t read Eclipse Hunter(they’re somewhat related). And I’m really excited for Dominion’s End, it’s been really interesting so far!
i suppose writing-wise and premise-wise, Legendary Moonlight sculptor does fall a bit below. In that case, though, Ark should be better. Since i read both, i can make the comparison, and say that that is the case, in my opinion.

                    5. Yeah, Coiling Dragon gets 2 chapters a day. The characters are extremely flat and shallow, and basically you don’t care for any of them, but it’s basically power fantasy and power creep at its purest.

                      http://www.wuxiaworld.com/cdindex-html/

                      What’s No Hero? Dominion’s End?

Ah, you like Ark better than LMS? Strange. You’re the first person I’ve met that prefers Ark! (:

                      Liked by 1 person

                    6. I’ll try Coiling Dragon soon, thanks for the link!
No Hero and Dominion’s End are both novels by Yu Wo that are being translated by Prince Revolution. I really adore them both, so far!

Well, both Ark and LMS have their own attractiveness, and i do read both of them! I think i should put…(SPOILER)What i like about LMS is particularly when Weed does his sculpting, and when he becomes the lord. It is certainly very interesting. The sculpting parts in particular are very nice, it’s art-based, which is pretty rare in virtual reslity novels where it’s mostly about magic or fighting or adventuring. However, sometimes, it feels that his ability to do most things are a bit too perfect? Yes,i know, hard work and all, but still…haha.

For Ark, i feel that the pacing is better, and it’s more well-paced. It’s also more focused on his job, and the quests are quite interesting too. Also, i particularly love when he uses nursing. I’d be cheering and grinning when he does!

Both have their own good points, is what i’m trying to say, like with all things, yes? Do you read Ark?

                      Like

                    7. I haven’t tried Ark, no. Usually people only recommend it to me as ‘read it if you have absolutely nothing else better to do’ and usually if I had that free time, I’d be gaming or translating or reading something good.

I can’t believe that you haven’t heard of Coiling Dragon though. It’s the only thing out there that’s getting translated as fast as it is. Love it or hate it, it’s pretty salient lol.

                      I suppose you don’t use aho-updates.com then?

I don’t know why i haven’t heard of it either. Though, i don’t really ask people for story recommendations? Ah, but i still accept them, however, i’m kind of picky…what’s so salient about it, though? I’ll just ask before i start reading, haha.
aho-updates? It’s the same as baka-updates, right? I mean, both mean ‘idiot’..or is it a totally different website?! Haha
oh, but i suppose i read manga more often, because i do like the visual aspect of it!

As for which harem member I like best… it’s really hard to say lol! Keith has that little brother thing going for him plus he has it tough, and Sophie has that amazing back story + cute albino looks. However Maria-chan probably takes the cookies XD she’s just HNNG. Good looks + cookies + sweet hard worker.

Honestly though I think it will BLOW her mind if Bakarina ever finds out she has a harem.

Rabbit, if you are trying to make some extra money, you should make a website with allowed ads (Wix.com and a few other websites have that which allows you to add ads to make some money), although, i think you need a bank account (or paypal, if you are playing safe, don’t want you bank accounts all over the internet), it is not very hard, the system is like youtubing, pretty simple if you know what you are doing (since you already have a large follower group and it is not to hard to make a website that looks just like this one but makes money every time someone comes to it or clicks on the ads) Just saying, if you are interested, i can tell more of this method of magically making money just doing what you currently doing now

Why is it like this i wonder

    Like

    1. It’s actually quite simple. The people that come down here to comment are people that are emotionally invested in the story. In other words, they like it and want to read more than what we currently have. However, what they find is a translator that translates chapters awfully slow because he/she/it only translates when he or she feels like it. Furthermore, the translator doesn’t want to work together with other people to translate faster nor does he/she allow the project to be handed to someone else who could translate faster. At the moment we’re 2 months without any chapters ahead without any chapters while the translator keeps saying he’ll do it “at a certain unspecified point in time in the future” without a given reason except “I’m busy”. I can imagine a lot of people don’t like it. And where better than to act on their frustration than here? Furthermore, we can assume that a lot of the people that are reacting are used to reading chapters daily or weekly. Thus, the lack of chapters here feels all the more irksome. One could argue that we should be glad to get chapters or that these are free so we shouldn’t expect anything but this argument generally forgets that by giving something like a story/movie to the public you’re demanding investment on the public’s part as well. So, if you’re not fully committed it might be better not to translate at all otherwise you’re like a movie director who doesn’t make the last movie of a trilogy, or an author who stops just before the end. And free? Well, doesn’t a translator know that when he/she starts people will want more? Half assed commitment is just cruel.

But it has only been two months so far so no reason to panic yet. I think we and all people need to wait patiently if our translator “feels like translating”. Ah, and don’t misunderstand, I don’t want to offend the translator, I’m just saying, there are reasons for the hate, although, perhaps at the moment(with just 2 months) still misplaced.

In any case, this leecher thanks the translator for the past efforts.

      2. Just a note, this wouldn’t be picked up by another translator nearly as easily as you think. Maybe if it was super popular, but it’s in the mid-range. We’d likely have to wait half a year if this translator dropped it.

      3. So going by your logic you should have never started school, university a job etc, since at the moment when you started em you can’t be sure if you’re going to stick with it till the end. Following your logic you should’nt even had started to live since you know it’s gonna end someday and (hopefully) someone will be sad about it. Man you’re going to hurt someone, you should feel realy bad about it.

OK, let’s not take your post literally and just interpret what you probably meant by it. Even the best, fastest translator out there should never have started translating since he did’nt know in the beginning if he could keep up with the work and all the other shit it entails. And even if he is already a well established translator with consistent releases for years he still should’nt continue translating because who knows what could happen? Maybe he experience an accident, or he gets into a life crisis. Man he’d hurt all his readers so much then, those poor, poor readers! Translators should feel really bad about so often hurting these poor readers.

Now let’s get real. If you are a fresh new translator, you do that most probably because you like the series and want to show others how great it is, share the experience, maybe find someone to talk about it. You will try translating some chapters and see how it works. Suddenly you realize how much work it is to actually translate a chapter. But in the beginning you will not realize it that hard, because it will be fun at first, because getting something done thats not easy feels refreshing, rewarding, and that all the more when there suddenly are some readers out there who like this story and keep encouring you for your good work. Then you will obviously start to like translating even more, since you can share the story that you like with others. While you keep translating you obviously start feeling proud about your work, because you put up with a shitload of work and accomplished something great, maybe you even brought a series to the attention of a great many readers, made it famous. So of course you will start feeling fond of your work. Most likely there will be a phase later on, where your translation keeps slowing down, because translating is a shitload of work. Yeah you feel good when you get a chapter done and get the praise of the masses, but hey, it’s always the same work. It begins to become routine work so the part about being happy about getting something difficult done starts reclining and get’s then replaced by getting annoyed if there are some tricky parts where you take a really long time to translate em. (I’m a English -> German translator myself and there were times when I needed like 15 minutes or more just to translate a single word headline just because there was’nt the right word for it in my language or I knew there was a perfect word but I could’nt think of it for a long time.) These parts later on will just become a pain in the ass because you are already experienced in translating but you still have to put up with difficult passages which just won’t want to be translated well. If your translationspeed then starts dropping then of course there will be some guy out there that keeps complaining. Most likely those guys start popping up even while you still translate at a fast pace. Then there will be more and more guys like them popping up building up much, much stress on your end even if you know they are just spouting bullcrap. This starts escalating if your reallife suddenly starts robbing your time which you normally spent translating, a hellish cycle of flame will start which will make the readers more unhappy and your stress keeps building up because of your reallife and the crap you read in the comments. But at this moment everything is still fine because you still love your series and you know there are still people out there who know how much work you put into it and are just waiting patiently till you have more time. So of course you’d still want to continue translating this series because you feel fond of the series, of the work you put into it and of the readers who encourage you. Then there may come the situation where a different translator comes. If you still want to continue to translate the story you will obviously not feel very good about other people picking up the story which you made famous, which cost you hundreds, thousands of hours, and just continue the story and ‘collect’ your ‘fame’ with it. Everyone would feel bad about this. Of course if you know you don’t have the time to continue it you will welcome anyone who wants to continue your work. But if you want to continue and the other translator does’nt want to back down then there will be two outcomes: either he just takes and continues it, this would be the worse outcome, or the other way is that you will have to collaborate with him, maybe split the chapters. But if you split the chapters there will again be problems. First he WILL have another writingstyle than you have, and yeah even if you try to do your translation as close to the original as possible your two versions of the same text will be different. That in and of itself is’nt all that bad. It gets bad if he starts using other terminoly than you or if you have to compromise with him about new terminology where before you could just take the one you liked. And the third thing that will happen is a difference in the quality. If you for yourself are proud to have a very good quality but the new translator can’t or does’nt want (for speed reasons) to produce the same good quality then this will most likely really annoy you. Because it somehow lowers the quality the finished product (the whole translation of all chapters/vollumes).
After all these things happened you will have many reasons for stress building up just because of the translation which can spoil your mood to do translations.
So now tell me, how can a want-to-be translator expect all this in the beginning? Or how can he know if he can keep up with it? And if he knows things like these will happen, then in your opinion he should never pick it up which in turn means if all would think like you that there will never be a new translator again.

I just want to say this now. I really respect all the translators out there because I know how much work this is. I really respect everyone who still likes translating even after putting up with all the shit that happens in the comments.
I hope that in the future there will still be many new translators who will keep up with all the stress and produce good work for all us readers. And maybe someday there will be less stupid hate. Thanks to all the readers who post their thanks in the comments and who start healthy discussions about their favourite novelles out there, thats what keeps translators going.

  30. As do I. This lee her also thanks this translator for these great chapters brought to us.

Also, just a comment on the “if you’re not fully committed, then don’t translate at all” part of the previous comment. I think that just being able to bring us chapters in the first place is something to be happy about. Even though, admittedly, it is a little frustrating not being to see new updates since I am one of those daily, weekly update readers, I feel great relief when the translator finally releases another chapter and should be something to be happy about. Also, the translator is also replying to our comments which show that he/she still hasn’t abandoned us so I appreciate that.

    So, please be patient everyone!!!

I don’t want to see another Translator who is doing this because they like doing it shut down like Loliq did, I enjoy these series and if I could I would gladly help you translate them, edit them or anything else needed but sadly I do not possess the skills to do so. Your translations are excellent and I really appreciate the hard work you put into them, I’d rather you take your time and deal with your real life stuff first and translate second any day. I’ll patiently wait for the next chapter even though like everyone else I really want to read it now because I like the story so much. Hope you find a good job/career and wishing you the best in the future.

Since you don’t like translating long series, I’ve found that if you only have to keep up with the latest release, long series don’t feel long at all. After all, what’s one chapter today then another chapter next week? Less work than you’ve already been doing, that’s what.

Um, if you transliterate the kanji directly, it should actually be tà thần (邪神). If you think ác thần sounds better in Vietnamese, then it doesn’t really matter.

I only speak basic Vietnamese (because I only use it with relatives and family friends) so I can’t comment on your translation.

But it was really interesting to see how you guys did it. I had to ask my dad what some parts meant, lol. Also haha, you put OTL in there xD
