Chapter 1 – Dong Zhuo’s Daughter

I don’t plan to continue this story.

written by this guy:

Chapter 1

The governor’s daughter was a prodigy, reputed to read and write fluently before reaching the young age of ten.

However, one day,

‘T-this is Father’s name…?!’

Governor of Hedong, of Great Han.

Dong Zhuo, style name Zhongying.

The moment she said those words, the daughter collapsed and fell ill.

…No way, wasn’t being the daughter of that great demon king Dong Zhuo just a death flag?!

Rumble, rumble…

The carriage, surrounded by soldiers, passed through the dry farmland.

And inside the carriage, I, being escorted, sat all alone.

A delicate young beauty with long black hair loosely tied and fair skin.

Apparently I wasn’t permitted to use hairpins until I was of age.

Thud!

Wait a minute, the carriage was shaking too much! There was a cushion, but it was still painful.

The road didn’t seem to be paved, and it wasn’t well maintained either.

‘Li, you’re overthinking it. It’s the lord governor’s daughter, you know? It’s impossible for her to be possessed by fox spirits or something like that.’

‘What are you saying, Guo! It’s inappropriate for a daughter to faint at the sight of her father’s name. Moreover, to fear the name of our lord who boasts god-like martial prowess… It must be a fox spirit’s doing!’

A light-hearted Guanxi accent and a slightly rough voice with a strange accent argue outside the carriage.

Both are subordinates of Papa Dong Zhuo, and ‘our lord’ is Papa too.

Captain Guo was from Guanxi, in other words, the western capital, Chang’an, while Captain Li was from Liangzhou in the northwest.

Gosh. Since was able to read and write since I was little, and even do arithmetic, people suspected that I was possessed by foxes or tanuki.

I mean, to be fair, this body was possessed by… Seriously, what even were these, memories of a past life?

I didn’t really understand why, but for some reason, besides my memories as Papa Dong Zhuo’s daughter, I also had another set of fainter memories as somebody from the future.

Among those memories, I distinctly remembered the story of the “Three Kingdoms”. When I realised that Lord Papa was Dong Zhuo, the scene of Dong Zhuo’s entire family being slaughtered at the beginning of the Three Kingdoms came to mind, and I fainted, see.

That bloody scene with soldiers shouting ‘Don’t spare the Demon King’s family!’.

Anyways, it seemed like this was the setting of the Records of the Three Kingdoms, which meant that the massacre of my whole family was my future.

If I remembered correctly, the women, children, and even babies were killed, so at this rate I was absolutely going to die…

‘That’s nonsense. The young lady will become the empress through her studies, all right? The Lord said so.’

Right, right, my father, Papa Dong Zhuo, had actually been delighted with my ability to read. He sighed and said, ‘If only you were a boy,’ and then said, ‘Actually, wait, if you’re studied then you can still serve at court.’

Then Captain Guo had heard that and began making a fuss, saying, ‘Then you’ll be the future empress!’… Geez, Papa never said I would be empress. This guy was the sort that got easily carried away.

‘No, it’s just creepy that a woman can read. We should have a priestess examine her.’

‘And you think if we bring her to a priestess she’ll be able to tell if there’s a ghost?’

‘Indeed. There is a renowned and respectable lady that I know. I often go to her for advice. A ghost that can allow a girl to read stands no chance.’

Captain Li seemed quite wary of me. What was with him, anyway? Was he one of those superstitious sorts? Even though Papa said that women could succeed through scholarship, Captain Li caused a ruckus and then my relatives said ‘Actually, we’re concerned too,’ so here I was, riding this carriage.

Man… Who knew I’d be sent to an exorcist just for being able to read.

If I knew this would happen I wouldn’t have shown off…

Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. My name was Dong Qing. Style name, Mu Ling.

Surnames, given names, style names, it’s all a bit much, so you can just call me Dong Qing.

Like I said earlier, I was somebody who could remember their past life.

Thanks to that, I was able to read from the start.

Well, ‘read’… For some reason compared to my future memories, a lot of words were written differently or just meant completely different things, so I was having some trouble.

Oh, by the way, Lord Papa was quite different from my image of him. In the Three Kingdoms, Dong Zhuo was violent, overbearing, and super fat, right? But actually, Lord Papa was quite nice, not just to me, but even to his subordinates and the servants. And he just had a bit of a dad bod, not at all like the swollen pig that Dong Zhuo was often portrayed as. He didn’t give much of that ‘Demon King’ feeling at all.

…Ah, right. This definitely wasn’t the Three Kingdoms that I know. I was certain.

I wanted to believe that Father wouldn’t end up ganged up upon by Cao Cao, Liu Bei, and Sun Jian, and wouldn’t end up betrayed and killed by Lü Bu either.

He wouldn’t be, right?!

…That’s why I was praying for a different ending!

  1. Well well, I will be. An Estelulu post in 2025. Honestly I kind of give up on this site, after Kenkyo gone hiatus and you dumping us on another, less reliable source for the rest.

Secondly, what with this interest on isekai-ing into Dong Zhuo’s daughter? First is Dong Bai, now its Dong Qing. Its not much but its strange it happened twice.

But hey, you’re still alive. Good luck on your life and stay healthy, Estelulu.

  2. Just saw this in my inbox and took me a second to even recognize it was an update from here! You know what? I’m also glad you’re alive and doing whatever it is that makes you happy (I hope), Estelulu. Thank you for giving me fond memories of my very first otome isekais so long ago (the fact that we have that as an entire genre now never ceases to amaze me), and best of luck with your current ongoings!
