Status Report

Um, if anybody remembers what I wrote a few weeks back about being demotivated. Well uh, that never stopped. Because I never took a break to do a teaser, and people have continually been pushing for EGA since it’s so popular and stuff.

I tried breaking the tedium by translating chapter 8 of the interlude arc, but it didn’t help that much.

And my laptop keyboard broke, so I’m stuck using a usb keyboard which is not comfortable for me.

And yeah, that’s sort of why it’s been taking me ages to release any chapter of anything. Because I’m still feeling apathetic.

Or at least I was, until a short moment ago!

The first Mushoku Tensei Useless Additions chapter was released just now, so I went and translated it for fun! Which was great!

…Except I deleted it right afterwards to make sure it never sees the light of day so I don’t piss off that Kaezar guy and his team lol. I remember what happened with Lygey-dude or whatever that rpg-maker porn-game translator is called.

But um, at least I’m a little motivated again! I’ll definitely get chapter 18 done before this time tomorrow!

p.s. Orsted is surprisingly clumsy. Cute guy. Wahahah!

  2. Glad to hear that you’ve had a (mild) resurgence of motivation.

    Y’know, you do have a bunch of teasers that you’ve mentioned before that you could introduce to us. For example, that musclehead Otoburi story, or that barely bearable bear story. If you need a change of pace, I imagine some of us would be eager to hear of those.

  3. Even if people are pushing for things you have veto as the translator. Translate what you want to translate, so that you don’t get apathetic as easily. Forcing yourself just means less chapters for us readers in the long term.

      1. Haha i suspected as such. Norm was totally glued to Rujierd the whole time during the Battle against Gisu after all. And since Osterd said that Rujierd’s child is also important for the future, i thought of the possibility long ago, as he won’t hook up with anyone due to guilt of killing his family. Though the Final story suggested that it failed(probably) it will still be interesting to read.

  8. Omg what are those mushoku chapter? Will that kaezar guy translate them?

    Btw i don’t think you have to worry about translating that much, it’s hard work and you’re doing it for free. You can rest as much as you want and noone will hate you (unless you decide to drop ega, then i will be mad XD)

  9. Sounds like you really need a break Sheeprabbit. My recommendation is a whole month without touching a WN. Make a list, chuck it somewhere. A month later, your curiosity should have risen enough to remotivate you. A burnt out translator is no good, like a burnt out worker, quitting is pending. Go out, have fun, get arrested. Better insane leechers than a burned out translator. Go ahead, have fun. We can wait a month. For those that can’t, too bad.

    You need a vacation, and I don’t mean the “stop while going to school” kind. Next school vacation, take a break from translating, see if your family wants to go on a holiday or something. After that, come back and re-read your translations from the start, see if there is still the spark that drew you to them in the first place.

    1. My medical knowledge was so great, when shot by an arrow I tried to push the arrow through turning a bad wound into a fatal one lol.

      1. If it’s a barbed arrow then that is actually one way to deal with it.
        If you try and pull it out then you are just going to turn a small hole into a massive heavily bleeding wound and if you don’t remove the arrow then you could end up with the arrow head getting underneath muscle and on bone which means when you or someone tries to remove it you could end up with permanent muscle damage.

        The best way to treat it would probably be to cut open the wound and carefully pull it out or if it’s in a non-fatal and relatively thin area then you cur off the fletching and push it through.

      2. yeah. She punctured a vital organ trying if I recall correctly. It wasn’t a wound that needed to be treated like that either.

  14. How about the Volume 6 bonus chapter of MT that is still only 1/3 done? I don’t think Kaezar would mind since he never attempted to hit it with some OCR and stab it with Jparser.

      1. Well, it’s not like I would say anything in regards to the extra LN chapter. Since it’s LN and I don’t have the raws at the moment(but someone just uploaded the Vol 6 raws yesterday, so I took a rough look at em).
        But please don’t act on instinct and just start translating immediately, it will only hurt both parties. Even though I worked so hard…..

        PS: And that LN extra chapter wasn’t fully translated? I thought that it was only that small…..

          ^ No idea what you’re talking about, but if you’re referring to the Useless Extra series, I already said that I have no intention of releasing tl’s for that, or doing them to completion. Just did this first one on a whim.

          I can appreciate that you’ve been working hard on the main series.

          As for “start translating”, that’s not exactly right. I’ve already translated it, lol.

        Anyway, by instinct I meant that : You translate the chapter out of fun -> Remember about me -> Delete whatever you translated -> Hard work gone down the drain -> working on instinct leads to waste….something like that.

        And about the piracy, well…….I was born a pirate so can’t help it. But I certainly ordered all the vols(Vol 1-Vol6) of MT just yesterday as well. It was just coincidence that vol 6 was uploaded on the same day, after that I found out that vol1-5 were uploaded as well which made me perplexed whether I should’ve brought the vols or not(pirate mind). But, well, I guess it’s all right.

          Mn, but it’s good that you’ve already ordered it. You really should support the guy. It’s not like WN adaptations make a lot of money. A lot less than LN writers, who don’t make much to begin with.

          And what’s more, the guy and his puublishing company are even good enough to leave the web novel version online instead of taking it down like Alphapolis. To even cheap out on the LNs and pirate the extra chapters is…

          Ah, by instinct? I actually have fun translating, so even deleting it afterwards isn’t a problem for me. I didn’t really forget you or anything. When I started tling the chapter, I had already intended on not uploading it.

          Only, seeing it sit on my usb drive made me kind of tempted to send it to people, so I decided just to delete haha.

        …I have no idea how that would work though, tell him he gets to read them an hour earlier?

        Joking aside, nice to see Este has regained his [Translator’s Motivation]. Maybe we can send him a new keyboard to make things easier/faster/more comfortable for him?

  17. Well to be fair. Kaezar did ask if I wanted to join their team. I declined their offer and then they speed translated the whole thing. I am only one person, so I only work as fast as I can.

  18. I was only doing mushoku to promote my own site as a teaser. Don’t be harsh on kaezar, they just didn’t want any inconsistencies in the translations.

      1. I have a question… When you say “You’re not supposed to read this at this point”… do you mean that it’s not fully translated yet? That it’s not fully edited yet? Or that it contains spoilers(but that hasn’t stopped you before when it came to post about later chapters of series(and I personally don’t mind spoilers))?

        Also, when do you intend to take out the need for a password when it comes to that side-story?

  27. For those that want the password, looking at the page source it seems to just require wordpress login password; ‘https://oniichanyamete.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=postpass’ (wp-login.php seems to just be wordpress’s default login script)
    So for those of you with a WordPress account, login with ‘remember me’ enabled, then enter your account password and it might work. I don’t own a WordPress account so I can’t test it myself.

  30. honestly though, I’d crack the password and not even read the chapter (too lazy to do that) since the other interlude chapters, from omega harem at least, stopped at chapter 4 and I don’t want to accidentally spoil things that might be known to a non-NEET thieving evil god POV.
