Hi guys! Looking for experienced cleaners, redrawers or type-setters to help with the Tashinami scanlations.

Please contribute: http://kenkyokenjitsu.wikia.com

Kaburagi discovered graffiti on Wakaba-chan’s desk.

He normally came to school a bit later.

That day he just happened to come early, so he headed to Enjou’s classroom, spotted Wakaba-chan cleaning her desk, and then noticed what she was cleaning off.

‘Ugly!’

‘Disappear!’

When he saw the insults he flew into a rage.

“Who was it!? Who did this!?”

People could hear his voice from down the hallway.

“Speak up! Who wrote this!?”

My friends and I were amongst them, so we left our classroom to investigate.

“What might be going on?”

“Well…”

And that was how I found out what had happened.

Kaburagi glared this way and that, pinning people under his gaze.

“Answer me. Who did this?”

The Emperor of Zui’ran was truly angry now.

Scary.

Besides my own group, plenty of other people who had come out of curiosity were standing frozen.

Wakaba-chan timidly came up to him, still holding her cleaning rag.

“Kaburagi-sama, um, please calm down…” she tried to stop him, but…

“How am I supposed to calm down!?” he yelled at her instead. “It’s bullshit! Aren’t you angry at all about this!?”

“Ah, I mean…”

“…Don’t tell me this wasn’t the first time?”

Putting the graffiti aside, most of the bullying was done in a way that the boys wouldn’t notice.

Thanks to that, I suppose, Kaburagi hadn’t had much of an idea of what she had to go through.

Well, he still didn’t have one, actually.

The majority of it was insulting her when Kaburagi and Enjou weren’t around, or talking behind her back right in front of her.

And it wasn’t all girls either.

There were the guys jealous of her grades.

“Ummm…”

Her eyes swam and she looked for an excuse, and Kaburagi’s expression grew even harsher.

“Who was it!?”

It wasn’t often that you saw this much emotion from him.

Kaburagi then proceeded to question each and every person there.

Most of them said they didn’t know, but sometimes one would let it slip they didn’t know about today’s incident, which caused them to be questioned further.

In the end, a few people admitted that they had seen Tsuruhana-san’s group or some other girls writing on Wakaba-chan’s desk a few times, causing the girls in question to pale.

“So it was you…”

You could almost see the black rage he was seething with.

“I-It wasn’t us! And look, we only just got to school!”

“It wasn’t us either!”

Despite being afraid of him, they still managed to find excuses.

“You’ve done it before.”

“We…”

“We don’t…”

“So in other words you might have asked someone else to do it today.”

“We didn’t! To begin with, everyone in the school hates Takamichi-san so it’s ridiculous that you’re pinning it all on us!”

“What did you say!?”

That was when Enjou arrived.

He looked a little surprised to see his best friend causing a fuss in his classroom.

“Morning, Masaya. What’s wrong?” he asked.

“What’s wrong!?” Kaburagi bellowed, and pointed at the desk. “Takamichi has been putting up with all this senseless harassment!”

The desk still had some marker ink on it.

It was the first time somebody had used something other than pencil, so it stood out a lot more.

“Ah… I see,” Enjou nodded.

Being that he shared a class with her, he was probably more aware of her plight than Kaburagi.

“Anyway, I’m going to find out who did this.”

“Isn’t that the Student Council President’s job, Masaya?”

Kaburagi frowned at the mention.

“They aren’t even around when they need to be. What can they do?”

“Ummm… The President, Mizusaki-kun, is having a meeting with the teachers about the graduation ceremony next month, so…” Wakaba-chan explained.

She was in the Student Council too, after all.

Kaburagi snorted.

“Takamichi, do you have any idea who did this?”

“Eh? Ah, who knows…”

Probably so many that she didn’t know where to start.

Kaburagi began looking for the culprit again.

Enjou just observed from the side.

Wakaba-chan herself was just ignored, and looked to be at a loss.

It wouldn’t be good to let this drag on.

Still, I loathed getting involved.

“Class is about to start, so shall we just clean up her desk for now?” I said quietly while giving her a glance.

“You’re right,” she agreed, after coming back to herself in a start.

She began cleaning the desk with her rag again.

Some girls from the Student Council brought their own rags to help.

The ink was apparently water-based, so before long it was cleaned away.

Thank goodness it hadn’t been oil-based.

Since people had been arriving at school, the crowd outside the classroom was even bigger now.

“What’s going on?” called a sharp voice.

The crowd parted and revealed Youko-sama and her followers.

Uergh!

The last person I wanted here had appeared.

Youko-sama looked over the classroom.

“I arrive at school in the morning to this huge uproar. Somebody explain this to me.”

The appearance of the former president of the Pivoine had the noisy classroom silent.

One student whispered something in her ear, causing her to let out a huge sigh.

She gave Wakaba-chan a cold glance.

“You again, Takamichi-san?”

“I’m sorry…” she said in a small voice.

“How many times are you going to cause chaos before you’re satisfied?”

“Is that not a little inappropriate?” Kaburagi said protectively. “She is the victim.”

“She may indeed be the victim. But is this not the consequence of her regular behaviour? I have heard much about her history of being problematic.”

To Youko-sama, it was a chance to air her own dissatisfaction.

“Could I ask what problematic behaviour you refer to?”

“You could call it behaving in a manner unbecoming of a student at Zui’ran.”

“Unbecoming…?”

“Indeed. Takamichi-san? Could it be that in order to have these people protect you, you drew on that desk yourself?”

Ehh!?

She was going that far!?

Kaburagi’s expression changed.

“Okishima-senpai. Isn’t that being a little too cruel? Please apologise to Takamichi-san.”

He was glaring now.

Uwawawawah! She’s your senpai, you know!

Youko-sama on the other hand seemed offended that he would ask for that.

“That’s quite impossible. The heart of the matter is that Takamichi-san has done unbelievable things, time and time again.”

“Okishima-senpai! If you go any further…” his fists shook as he warned her.

This was looking really bad…

Just when things were about to explode, Enjou stepped between them.

“Okishima-senpai, Masaya has always despised cowardly acts like this, so the blood must have gone to his head. Could you give me some face and back down just this once?” Enjou smiled disarmingly.

Youko-sama’s expression softened after seeing this.

“…Well if you’re asking, Enjou-sama, then I suppose I must.”

“Thank you very much. Since class is starting soon, please allow me to escort you there.”

And with a smile, Enjou escorted her out of the room.

…S-Scaryyyy!

You did well, Enjou!

I think I speak for everyone when I say that!

The period bell rang, so the peanut gallery all began leaving for their classes.

Kaburagi on the other hand held Wakaba-chan’s shoulders tightly.

“If anything happens, you tell me. I’ll protect you.”

“Eh…!?”

Her face turned red.

Ehh!?

Did her heart really just throb to Kaburagi!?

And Wakaba-chan, your mouth is hanging open!

“Youko-sama was right,” muttered a girl, “Wasn’t all this just a farce to get the Emperor’s attention?”

“Sounds like something she’d do…” muttered another.

From that day onwards, Kaburagi was often spotted at Wakaba-chan’s side.

    1. no he coulnt not handle that in any way, he is simply incapable of read the mood and know that he himself was the cause of all the problem, its simply beyond him, thats way he is called bakaburagi lol

      Liked by 14 people

      1. But really, how was he supposed to handle it? I don’t even know how you’d solve this bullying problem…. unless you made an example out of one of the bullies and beat them black ad blue lol

        Liked by 4 people

        1. Well, simplest solution would be him as the president of the Pivoine to remind the FORMER president that she is exactly THAT, “Former president” then as president, he can lay down the rule to stop the bullying.

Playing it as heir of Kaburagi household, he can also put pressure and tell the bullies that as far as he’s concerned, neither them or Wakaba are anything close to his equal position.

Though I’ll admit that I’m still greatly waiting for Reika to put her foot down and protect Wakaba-chan already…. Other than Kaburagi, she is the one person involved with the power to force the outcome she wants. Hence… I’m kinda disappointed at her right now… for someone who claims to be Wakaba’s friend, she is way too scared to actually protect her with her power.

          1. you are wrong if he did that, then the other pivoine would lost all respect from him and he would be forced to forfeit the being a prez, cause if you are a pivoine prez and dont aid or make things better for the other pivoine then what the hell is he doing there being one?

reika would be forced to become a prez and she would not be able to help wakaba in the open either for their social position, if she did help her in the open then her SS army and her cousin army´s would harass wakaba so thoroughly that it could cause her mental problems

so the best she can do is trying to defuse the situation by confronting and making bakaburagi stop his witch hunt, bc if he started something there he could lose not only his face but also his family face, dont think that masaya´s family is all powerfull (i think that was only in the world of the original story), the others still can make business with other people, if they beg the former president or reika to help them, then what could bakaburagi do? in here reika´s family has the same or even more power than his family, and im sure the family of the former prez is also powerfull. They would not abandon their fellow pivoine just to save a commoner that would be folish. (only bakaburagi or the stuco could do that)

    1. I honestly can’t think of a better deterrent than for Kaburagi to do exactly that.

So one of two things happen here:

      1) Kaburagi loses his idol status. The girls surrounding him figure that he’s only into Wakaba and become disillusioned that he’d lower himself for a peasant. If that happens, who cares? Kaburagi never wanted them anyway. .

      2) Kaburagi remains an idol. And although they’re in denial and won’t accept Wakaba, they won’t do anything to further anger Kaburagi (at least, not where he can see them). Same deal with when he was into Yurie, they know better than to anger him when he’s really set on something.

Kaburagi drags his cunning wingman into the whole mess and provides Reika some cover because of how distracting he is.

      Liked by 7 people

        1. That’s already assumed in #1 and #2. They already had all those prejudices before, it just didn’t come to the forefront until Kaburagi started liking her.

Now people can say that’s Kaburagi’s fault, but eh. I’m not excusing Suiran’s culture. That’s some victim-blaming, man.

          Liked by 4 people

        2. Four, Bakaragi summons Reika as his minion again, not knowing that they are well acquainted. From there, Reika regains lost ground and proceeds on the true Yuri route with Wakaba.

          Liked by 1 person

  1. I was half expecting Bakaragi tu blame Reika so we could finally follow the plot of the original story lol.

Kinda scary how the students still find a way to put the blame of Wakaba-chan.

    Liked by 4 people

    1. if that happened, Wakaba would stop that from happening and it would trigger the yuri route. Wakaba knows how good of a person Reika is. The only friend that she actually has is reika.

      Liked by 13 people

    2. I think that Kaburagi trusts Reika quite a lot in this timeline. They’re ‘comrades in arms’ in unrequited love and he has a soft spot for Yukino. That and he’s known her since grade school.

      Liked by 9 people

      1. But think about it: If Kaburagi does turns on Reika, that might forces Enjou to finally show his hand. And Reika will finally get the secret admirer she dearly wished for. The battle between the Emperor and the Prince, with the Queen’s honor on the line, can you imagine how huge that headline will be, and remember for generations after?

        Liked by 8 people

        1. Enjou? I’m still hesistant to declare him on Reika’s side. He will probably help behind the scenes though but I can’t see him outright aiding her. He’ll probably be the peacemaker between Emperor and Queen.

          Liked by 1 person

  2. Well, the elitists really can come up with all sorts of reasons just too blind themselves to the truths i guess. It’s like before the French revolution, when the people are hungry, you offer them cakes thinking they just mean they are complaining about lack of desserts

  3. Nooooo!!! Wakaba! You can’t fall for Bakaburagi that way! It was all his fault in the first place!!! Go for Stalking Horse-kun!!!

Bakaburagi hasn’t grown up enough (mentally). And he doesn’t realise everyone would hate her even more with him following her around. Wakaba how could you like someone like thisssss. Maybe its fate cuz they’re the protagonists of the manga. It can’t be helped… ugh.

Stalking Horse-kun, I’m still rooting for you, despite your lowering chances to make Wakaba fall for you.

  4. “Youko-sama was right,” muttered a girl, “Wasn’t all this just a farce to get the Emperor’s attention?”

  5. Cluelessness and denseness sometimes really is just as harmful as outright malice.

Think and look around you before you act you colossal moronragi… Then again someone as arrogant and overachieving like he is probably have never even deigned to put himself in another’s shoes.

    Liked by 8 people

  6. Ugh. I hope this won’t end up with wakaba falling for Bakaburagi. Srsly, in the first place if it wasn’t for his indifference to his followers and his position in Suiran then wakaba wouldn’t be bullied. For someone who’s the heir of a reknown Corp. I’d be worried if I’m working for someone like that🌚 and Wakaba, she could have at least outright tell to Bakaburagi that his careless idiocy and stalking tendencies is giving her problems. Or she could have just outright ignore or run away from Bakaburagi and Enjou like how Reika-sama does it.

Now with the emperor’s preferential treatment and volunteering to be her watchdog he’s just gonna do more harm than good. uuuh….I really hope the forces of the Forever alone village will level up and drag that idiot away. 🌚

At the same time I feel like Reika-sama will be drag by this fiasco. Tsk. Leave our Rococo Queen alooone plot armour!!!and Thanks for the chapter✨✨❣️

I REALLY liked Kaburagi this chapter, sure he could have handled it better, but that outburst in anger was quiet satisfactory, he might just have secured next year chocolate too~~

  8. “Ehh!?
Did her heart *really* just throb to *Kaburagi*!?”

Kaburagi is always “that annoying guy she grew up with” to Reika, isn’t he? Hahah…I wonder if anybody besides Enjou will ever find out.

    Liked by 4 people

      1. I get the impression that she dotes on the junior members of Pivoine., given how she admires Kaburagi, adores Reika and listens to Enjou. She also doesn’t seem the type to actually lower herself to do any actual physical bullying because it would “undignified” or something.

I don’t think Reika really should fear her as much as she does.

Now Tsuruhana is a bad customer. She’s both popular and not above actually bullying others. I’m sort of puzzled about her, but just figure she’s just similar to Ririna’s own faction, in that it’s held together by force of will and personality of the girl. But with the added bonus of being an anti-Pivoine faction. Either because the Pivoine gets in the way of their ladder climbing or because they’re just genuinely fed up with being treated unfairly.

        Liked by 4 people

      2. Yeah.. I think it’s only because Youko-sama think and see of Reika as a really proper Ojou-sama in her eyes, maybe even more than herself😅 it’s just like maybe she regards Reika as one of her kin who must be doted and protected well😊 but I find Reika herself (either her outer or inner self) really lovable, so I guess it’s not hard to like Reika for just her own personality😁

        Liked by 5 people

  9. Reika really should’ve gone out of the way to make Kaburagi angrier earlier. I’m sort of slapping my forehead at the obviousness of the move in hindsight. It may not accomplish much, but it makes him Reika’s lightning rod.

I don’t think Enjou wanted to involve his best friend in the drama since he knew how he’d react. And likely, he knew Reika wouldn’t risk her own skin over this, even if she’s sympathetic to Wakaba. But whatever. It just seems cowardly that neither of them will do anything about the bullying.

Really, is the loss to their reputations really that bad? Youko’s former position as Pivoine president doesn’t sound that important. It doesn’t actually do anything. I can’t for the life of me believe that her family is so powerful that they’d want to get into a pissing match with the likes of Enjou, Kisshouin or Kaburagi; all just because their daughter didn’t like how the other Pivoine kids behave. Strikes me as a paper tiger.

    Liked by 4 people

      1. And Reika isn’t completely ready to throw all that away for the sake of Wakaba and the possibility that her family will fall. Not to mention, with the Queen down, Tsuruhana would rise and possibly bully her too. It’s best if she maintains her power and influence.

        Like

        1. Well, I do have some other thoughts on that, but it really would be a different subject.

I tend to think in terms of absolute catastrophic failures of norms, when bluffs are called, knives are pulled and everybody resorts to ultimate force.

  10. While Youko acts like a bitch, it’s still bearable compared to Kaburagi does. Oh boy, I always hate someone like him. Thinking he can help him even though he just makes it worse.

That’s shoujo scene from the perspective of a bystander. It left us filled with tsukkomies XD

Enjou, can’t you at least tell Kaburagi that he is actually the cause of all these bullying around Wakaba? Or my theory is actually correct in that, Enjou is totally a softie when it comes to his trusted friends and family? Maybe that could explain his behavior with Yuiko? Or is Enjou observing and waiting for development in his bro?

Look at how far he went for that Bakaburagi when he was being suicidal. as Reika said, what a good friend.

This chapter puts more in perspective that Enjou is the leader in the shadows type contrary to Bakaburagi that became a loose cannon.
Bakaburagi is just making things worse for Wakaba-chan, and Wakaba-chan don’t get swayed by Bakaburagi, remember that you got Reika-sama.

I’m still shipping Wakaba x Stalking-Horse, but seems like fate (manga original plot) is unavoidable. *sigh* But at least Bakaburagi finally noticed the problem, though he fail completely to noticed the core of it. *double sigh*

Now I’m curious, who might ask Reika-sama to its side in the coming chapters: Youko-senpai or Bakaburagi (Enjou) or both?

    1. Now that you said it..if it comes to full blown war between them, reika-sama probably will be the deciding factor to turn the tide. After all she is considered the queen of suiran, with her followers ranging even from middle school to high school sections. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration the side that got reika sama support would got almost all of women’s student support

Stalking horse: -1 point for not being in the scene
Reika-chan: +1 point for suggesting the clean up

Bakaburagi: -5 point for making the catastrophe, fanning the “wakaba hate” flame, and trying to hit a girl

  28. Masaya, it’s nice that you’re standing up for your crush. But it is a point of fact that your lack of interest in your surroundings is a main cause of the problem in the first place. As for the girls who accused Wa-chan of acting as the victim when has she ever taken such an attitude you deluded Ojousama. Come to think of it isn’t Rei-chan like Suiran’s resident deity. She’s worshipped and rarely interferes but when she does it make all the difference.
