It’s been two weeks since we’ve last spoken, hasn’t it.
Lately I’ve been quite busy between university finals and some minor re-skilling at my job.
I apologise for the lateness of this translation.

As for the boy, he even reformed and stopped harassing Wakaba-chan. All’s well that ends well, huh?

Haha. Not that this was just somebody else’s problem. The term-end tests were fast approaching. If I wanted to cling to my position on the rankings board then I needed to study for my life.
Wakaba-chan was always topping that list. How on earth did she study, I wonder.

And just as I was determined to spend all my time studying, Otousama told me that I had to attend our family’s corporate party.
I was still a high schooler, as well as a minor to boot, so I always insisted on avoiding these business parties. This time, though, I apparently had to show my face as the chairman’s daughter. Urghh~
Okaasama was in high spirits about it. Between dragging me to beauty salons, hair salons, and dress shopping, I was finding no time for studying at all. This was bad. This was really bad.
I guess my only choice at this point was to cut down on sleep to get some studying done. Ugaaaaah!

Despite my lack of time, at school I still had to hide that I was frantically studying. I avoided my textbooks during lunch breaks and instead hung out with my friends.
“Have you heard? Apparently Kaburagi-sama visits Enjou-sama’s classroom every day.”
“I have. He speaks to Takamichi-san every time, right? What on earth is Kaburagi-sama thinking.”
“I still think it’s just a whim, but…”
“Right?”
It was almost certain that Kaburagi liked Wakaba-chan. Everybody knew this too, but they didn’t want to admit it.
Both Tsuruhana-san and the other girls who didn’t see Wakaba-chan kindly were using every opportunity to pick on her. Unfortunately it wasn’t something so obvious that Kaburagi noticed.
Maybe that was why, unlike in the manga, their relationship hadn’t progressed at all.
I suppose a clear threat like the manga’s Kisshouin Reika was necessary after all. Not to say I was even thinking of sticking my neck out for their romance. They would just have to work something out on their own.
Besides their lack of progress though, I got the feeling that both Kaburagi and Wakaba-chan were in quite a different relationship to their manga counterparts.
In Kimidol, Kaburagi was more mature. He was normally cool and collected, but when it came to Wakaba-chan he burned with passion; the kind of character that could tickle a maiden’s heart. How on earth he turned out as an athletics carnival-obsessed man-child instead I have no idea.
And Wakaba-chan wasn’t any different. In the manga she was more… Well, she was more normal I suppose… Never in anybody’s wildest dreams would she have stood around with her jaw hanging open, or have come to school in gumboots of all things, or gone foraging in the Zui’ran Forest, or, and I stress this, have been the kind of steel-skinned girl who paid her bullies absolutely no mind at all.
Ah, no, I mean, I know that the real Wakaba-chan is doing her best too, though, but I still couldn’t help but think she was a completely different person to the Wakaba-chan I knew.
Really, it was throwing me all off.

The tests were coming soon so I was taking a break from my club. I couldn’t avoid at least showing up at the salon though. Haah, socialising was such a pain.
Lately I noticed the President’s faction discussing something with complicated expressions. It was kind of scaring me… I wasn’t sure what they were talking about but I could guess it was something to do with Wakaba-chan or the Student Council.
Let sleeping dogs lie. I didn’t see anything. I didn’t hear anything. The only thing I’m thinking about is the dessert in front of my eyes, I swear.
Which was a charlotte aux pommes today, incidentally.
The faint tanginess of the apples was delicious. I actually liked apple pies better, but having a charlotte sometimes was fantastic.
While I was indulging in sweets-assisted escapism, shockingly Yukino-kun had entered the room with Enjou!
“Yukino-kun!”
“Reika-oneesan!” he beamed the moment he spotted me.
Yukino-kun ran over to me.
“Yukino-kun, why are you here today?”
“Ehehe, I asked Oniisama to bring me here to play.”
Aaah! What an angelic smile! All of the stress and weariness in my heart was disappearing!
“Yukino, make sure to greet everyone else first,” Enjou said as he placed a hand on Yukino-kun’s head from behind.
“Ah, oops,” said Yukino-kun as he turned around and bowed. “My name is Enjou Yukino. Pleased to meet you.”
With the smile of an angel, naturally.
Just that was enough to lift the mood of the salon. The girls in particular had their hearts taken by his adorable charm.
“What a wonderful day it is that Enjou-sama has brought his younger brother along! Yukino-sama, we are very pleased to meet you.”
The President sat Yukino-kun down in the middle of the sofa, and had tea and sweets brought over to the table. Despite looking troubled by the crowd of surrounding oneesama, he answered each question with a smile.
Off on the side, Enjou watched Yukino-kun as he spoke to me.
“Yukino said that he wanted to see you no matter what, so I gave in and brought him here.”
“Goodness! I am very happy to hear that!”
He said he wanted to see me! I wanted to see you too, Yukino-kun!
Still, since he had been taken by the President and her friends, I would just wait here quietly until he returned.
Until then I suppose I could keep chatting with Enjou~
“Is Kaburagi-sama not with you today?”
“Apparently he had something on.”
“I see.”
‘Something’ huh. He better not have gone to Wakaba-chan’s cake shop or something.
“Masaya’s been kind of restless recently,” he said as his lips curved upwards.
Your smile is scaring me.
“I see.”
The best choice was probably just to ignore it until the subject changed.
“Yeah. And lately he keeps coming to my class for some reason. It doesn’t seem to be me though.”
Geh! And he’s telling that to me!?
“My, is that so.”
“It is.”
We smiled at each other. Yukino-kun, hurry up and come baaaaack! Your Oniisan is scaring meee!
By the time Yukino-kun had been released by the President’s crowd, I was exhausted from the probing. I was curious about what Kaburagi wanted, yes, but on the other hand hearing all of this from Enjou was triggering danger signs in my head. Enjou pretty much only smiled like this when he was plotting something.
Yukino-kun, who was totally unlike his two-faced older brother, told me about how he had been practising his latte art recently.
“Reika-oneesan, I heard that you’re particular about the Chinese Zodiac. I’ll try my very best so that I can finish all twelve of them!”
Who was it!? Who was it that put weird lies into Yukino-kun’s head!?
I tried to clear up the misunderstanding but Yukino-kun wasn’t listening at all.
“Right now I’m working on making the Ox.”
Drawing an ox with milk huh. Well, I suppose it’s not like it didn’t fit, but…

I don’t really know what Enjou is trying to do. Surely he knows that she isn’t interested in Kaburagi? Or perhaps he thinks that she is a tsundere?
I get why Kaburagi is different from the manga but I’m not sure where Wakaba’s difference comes from.
I mean, she’s probably not as bothered by bullies because of Reika but I don’t get the other stuff.

Maybe Enjoy is trying to make sure. From childhood, he’s probably been told that Reika has been aiming for Bakaragi. He knows Reika is a bit of a coward, so he might wonder what her intentions are when she asks about her nemesis -er- classmate. This makes more sense if Enjoy actually likes Reika as the emotions would make him anxious and cloud his judgement.
As for the line “Until then I suppose I could keep chatting with Enjou~”, it just means that Reika was somewhat reluctant in talking to Enjou until Yukino freed himself from the Pivione president ‘s coven.

How so? I am so sure he is aware that Reika doesn’t like Bakaragi. I mean didn’t he mention that to her face that her type are “older men”? Meaning he is aware of her failed love life before. Maybe Enjou just likes Reika and is making sure Reika does not romantically like Bakaragi before moving in for the kill. Though Reika might just hide before Yukino and marry Yukino to run away from Enjou or something… Or she can just hide behindi her Onii-sama or her Onii-sama’s Osananajimi…

Reika has flatly denied any attraction to Kaburagi before, but that was way back in primary school when they didn’t know each other that well.
I think it’s maybe just likely that he suspects some connection between Reika and Wakaba. He’s a close Reika-watcher and Reika has certain poker tells.
Reika avoids interacting with Wakaba in public but also isn’t bullying her. Reika’s real attitude most of the time is, “Uh oh, Wakaba is in trouble again. I’m concerned, but I better pretend that this has nothing to do with me.” And it’s probably coming through somewhat through her body language and face. But you wouldn’t notice it unless you understood Reika’s personality.

On the other hand, maybe it’s way simpler than that. Wakaba talks too. So if she ever made comments about how Reika is a pretty nice girl who likes cake and boy, was I ever surprised how approachable she actually is . . .

The romance for reika is almost zero. I just see many love interest but couldn’t make sure which one going with reika. I think i root for misuzaki arima.

On the “until then, I suppose I could keep chatting with Enjou”, maybe it means that Reika-sama is not averse to talking with Enjou while waiting. While this may be by a long shot (and with a fangirl glasses on), maybe it means that she’s quite comfortable killing time with him. That is, until he goes teasing her.

Kaburagi’s difference just might be from relatively small things Reika’s done differently piling up.
Like maybe overly clingy Manga Reika made such a big deal about the festival’s that Kaburagi didn’t get super fired up for them (but still won handidly). Or perhaps the fact that she was so aggressive pushed him to become more “calm and collected” (or holding in his enotions), considering that even in this timeline she’s almost the only girl at the school who doesn’t basically worship him.
Or, alternatively, that they’re living characters could do it. I wonder if the story would’ve followed the manga exactly if the MC behaved like Manga Erik a, or if it would still have some oddities (like Wakaba’s hobbies).

My two theories are that:
1) They’re not exactly the same as their manga counterparts because they’re actually reincarnees like Reika. That’s my dark horse though. Maybe one or both never read Kimidol, so they also wouldn’t know that there is a “future” timeline they’re supposed to follow either.
2) Wakaba isn’t so stressed because Reika isn’t bullying her in this timeline.

You know when you have a group of people and there is that one person that connects everyone, but when they leave to talk to someone else or are called away, those that are left have no connection and they more or less need to force a conversation till that person returns.
Small talk, polite superficial conversation that really doesnt mean anything. In this case you start talking about things on topics you dont want to go near, or dont find interesting etc, your expression is fake, smiling and nodding to be friendly while really wanting your friend to return. However these days you have your phone to act as a filler till they come back :P even though I think thats fucking rude.. but at least your not feigning interest..

But did you all realize?
Almost every time Reika speaks to Enjou, the first thing she asked would be ‘is Kaburagi not with you?’ as if he is always in her mind (Enjou is a double-lines’reader type).
Perhaps Enjou cannot help but overthink things and thought she has some interest in Kaburagi.
Or he indeed knows Reika is not interested in Bakaburagi in that way (but still secretly feel unease) and is plotting to share the problems caused by an infatuated Bakaburagi on her again.
Or yes, Enjou knows Wakaba and Reika are friends (considering how observant he is of Reika, surely he would realize the many blatant proofs. e.g. the shoes Wakaba received from Reika lol).

Well, there was that time that Reika suggested that Kaburagi join a monastery. She was so stubborn about it that Aira gave up on getting her to cooperate. Enjou had to maneuver Kaburagi into opening up with her about the love anthology.
Before that, Enjou had to deny the implication that he’s “creepy” enough to come to school with Kaburagi. I mean they’re friends, but they’re not *that* way. He just happened to be keeping Kaburagi on suicide watch.

I was thinking it was Reika’s annonymous letter. So Wakaba isn’t getting into any of the dire trouble she would have. Basically, no one can really make things difficult for Wakaba in plain view now, but they would have in the story (With Reika leading)

I think it’s a combo of; they (Wakaba and Kaburagi) were always like this as in this parts that Reika-sama sees were always a part of them but now from a closer perspective and with memories of growing up with each other, the impression is different. Plus yeah she is no longer a negative decisive force. Remember, Reika-sama is the queen of all the girls. It would be a VARY different bullying experience for Wakaba if Reika-sama was doing it. And I agree with what was said by that the person (sorry I can’t seem to find you again while combing through, I must be tired but I am giving credit to you for you idea). Kaburagi was spoiled a bit by Reika-sama even if she doesn’t realize it so he is just a little more immature then in the manga. Reika-sama who was the pressure for both is now a support so not only is she in the know now about who they are a bit better but had a different effect on them.

My thinking is in the original timeline, Reika would have definitely tattled on Kaburagi’s early childhood bullying/verbal abuse to Mama Kaburagi and his mother, would have punished him, forcing him to mature faster. Remember that she asked about him multiple times and offered to ‘beat some sense into him’ if he gave her any trouble.
But this Reika was too much of a coward and never said anything bad against Kaburagi to his mother (fearing the bad end) resulting in him being overly spoiled and never maturing socially until Reika yelled at him in middle school. So his maturity level is behind by a few years because he was confronted later in life.

Oh yeah and I read the Second Life chapters on J-Novel Club. Then spend yesterday reading up to chapter 90. It’s really good. The chapters are pretty short so the 4 parts they released seem to have passed chapter 20 already.
The MC reminds me a little of the MC of Oresama Teacher. Except for the MC of that is manly while trying to become girly. To the point where when she disguises herself she gives the impression of being a guy crossdressing really well https://imgur.com/a/kI5Nw

I wonder how much of what Kimidol showed was an accurate portrayol of the characters. ‘Cause Bakaburagi being mature and cool and collected is something I can’t ever see. I wonder if it’s because he was able to stick with Yurie longer so he stayed a man-child. Although, I think I like THIS Wakaba better than Kimidol’s version.

Thanks for the new chapter! I wish I knew if Enjou is trying to get Reika to step up and fight for Kaburagi’s attention or getting a rise out of her for his own interests. It’s impossible to tell with what Reika has seen. >.<

Maybe he likes bakaburagi… nah he dont lol he admitted as much when Reika implied he was glued to him, Enjou seemed to take offense to that, he clearly stated that they didnt come to school together it was just happenstance that they seemed to be around each other all the time, however they are of course friends. But it seems that Enjou is more or less Bakas caretaker… and its obvious hes palming off some of his care duties onto Reika, thats why he took a hit to the stomach when Reika blew up, he knows that his meddling and use of her caused her stress.
But Im pretty sure hes getting back at her for something, I mean shes sorta implied same sex preferences before, she alluded that the other idiot shit whats his face (that junior with a similar name to baka) was in love with Enjou, Enjou seemed to want to dispel any thoughts in that direction that Reika might have. To be honest I think Enjou really likes Reika, hes wary of her this is obvious but dont you get the feeling hes way to observant of her? this goes beyond concern for his friend. Hes fully aware that Reika wants nothing to do with either of them.

I forgot to add that his younger brother might be used as a ruse/tool in finding out what Reika is up too, but the fact he allows her to spend time with Yukino and doesnt try to interfere in their relationship implies a level of trust that wouldnt exist if she were someone he was wary of.
Theres no way he would let the manga Reika anywhere near Yukino, so what does this tell you about Enjous opinion of our darling Reika? She really should be more aware of that, if she really thought about it, she would think its really strange that he allows any time with Yukino at all. She had a moment of concern when she found out, she thought she triggered her death flag in that moment of realization, but that went out the door and all she thinks about is angelic Yukino not the hazard signs blaring “Danger Will Robinson”

“sweets-assisted escapism” Seems like a good plan.
It is possible that Kaburagi in Kimidol was more mature, whether because Reika’s big influence (+obsession with him) were a threat and made him mature quicker or because he didn’t have Reika to solve his problems (aka Enjou and Reika spoil him to much now). Still, I’m under the impression that real Kaburagi and Kimidol’s Kaburagi aren’t very different and it’s mostly Reika who knows Kaburagi’s weird side, since young, and can’t look at him the same way. She never knew why he was called Emperor, how childishly passionate he is at the athletics festival, his stalker tendencies, etc. Things that from a certain perpective can be toned-down and are become the traits of some male leads. But she knows his stupidity very well and his image got worse in her mind. Not to mention the things he puts her through; he doesn’t act like a male lead, much less the cool and colected Kimidol version. However, Reika is one of the few people who knows his stupid side, he still looks cool and colected to other people. From Wakaba’s POV it can look different, since he burns with passion or something (well, this can change this time around).
For example, in the manga the bullying situation can look like: oh, he can’t properly save Wakaba because Reika is powerful. Now: this idiot can’t even see she is getting bullied.
Btw, I bet the weird ideas he gets are proudly told to Enjou, who gives his approval like the evil guy he is. Then Kaburagi gets is sure he is right to an absurd level. (If true, Wakaba’s POV doesn’t suffer much from Enjou’s shenegamis)
As for Wakaba, it could be she is more relaxed, not having Reika after her. I can see a ‘normal’ female protag with Wakaba’s personality doing what she does (minus not carring about bullies). Well, Wakaba’s case confuses me a little.

Wakaba is an airhead person but well she is kind and hardworking though. The author already make many scene between wakaba and kaburagi so it just crushed my first ship between kaburagi and reika. And also enjou got yuiko there as candidate fiancee and also called enjou by Shuu, so i think they are basically close enough, but the author don’t describe too much about them just give many hints about them going together. And enjou’s feeling about yuiko also be questioned here? Since we never know what enjou’s thinking.

Ehm i think the author try to make that kaburagi is honest, stubborn type and the one that give everything to his love interest But beside that he still act as a heir when needed too. But reika’s impression about him got worse and worse 😨 because she thought that he is annoying.

no he is dense, he is hot headed, and is a full stalker, he is not good to wakaba or a more normal girl like yurie for example, he will hurt the person he love because his actions, and he think that all is fine in name of love.
lets not forget that he almost goes in a jorney to heaven because he coulnt
accept that things didnt go like he wanted to, he is not mentaly mentally healthy.

Then… Do you remember the conversation with Aira (chapter 164)? Taking that on count, the non written conversation between Enjou and Reika-sama in this chapter wound sound like this:
Enjou: "You know, naïve girl? Takamichi-san might be a good girl, but she is not suited for that stupid friend of mine. So you better get a hold of yourself and start doing something! We are all supporting you after all!!"
Reika-sama: "What are you saying? I can't hear you at all. Yukino and sweets are all I need in life!!"

Ah Enjou. He keeps pushing all the Kabaragi problems onto Reika. He really doesn’t want to be the only person that was forced to go to the cold sea in the dead of winter in the middle of a snowstorm on Christmas.
That is something that would break a friendship off for real.
He probably bitter about that and wants to force Reika to experience it too so he has someone who understands his hardships.

This is literally killing me. Like is the ship with Enjou?? The number of interactions Reika has with him is a lot & Yukino likes Reika a lot. it’s so cute and adorable like I want more of Yukino showing up… It has to be Enjou right? Even those side-character povs has mentioned him!!!
