Bara (薔薇, “rose“), also known by the wasei-eigo construction “Men’s Love” (ML メンズラブ, “menzu rabu”), is a Japanese technical term for a genre of art and fictional media that focuses on male same-sex love usually created by gay men for a gay audience.

Mount Hiei is a mountain to the north-east of Kyoto, lying on the border between the Kyoto and Shiga Prefectures, Japan.
Enryaku-ji is a Tendai monastery located atop Mount Hiei by the monk Saichou in 788.
Mount Kouya is the name of mountains in Wakayama Prefecture to the south of Osaka. First settled in 819 by the monk Kuukai, Mt. Kouya is primarily known as the world headquarters of the Kouyasan Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism.

Saigyou was the name of a monk said to have created an artificial human. Recalling tales of lonely ogres gathering human bones to create a person, Saigyou was said to have used the secret necromantic séance teachings of the Tokudaiji noble house to create a human from human bone remains.

I met Aira-sama in a café the next Sunday in the early afternoon.

“Sorry for making you come out here, Reika-chan.”

“There is nothing to apologise for. Being able to meet with you is a pleasure.”

I ordered a latte. This café did latte art, so I asked for a sheep.

“Cute sheep. Speaking of which, you wore sheep ears during the school festival didn’t you?”

“Yes.”

The reception that my sheep butler costume received was surprisingly good, so I had become a little fond of sheep since. Hmm, it was a bit of a shame to ruin this by drinking it.
While I was appreciating my latte art, Aira-sama began speaking hesitantly.

“So you see, I’m sure you’ve already guessed why I’ve called you out today. It’s about Yurie and Masaya.”

Here it was… I had pretty much guessed it. I took a gentle sip to avoid ruining the sheep. It was delicious.

“You’ve noticed too that Masaya’s been acting strangely, right?”

“…Yes.”

After seeing that it would be stranger if anybody failed to notice. He was like an empty cicada shell of himself. Even if I had somehow missed that, Enjou had already told me about how he went on a journey, and then handed over those unlucky souvenirs.

“You see, Yurie has finally given him her decision.”

“Aahh…”

I thought so…

“Yurie cares about Masaya a great deal as well, but it’s always been the love for a younger brother. That’s why she thought it was about time to make things clear. I mean, the two of us are already twenty. In a sense you could say she was taking responsibility.”

“Hahhh…”

It was more or less the same in Kimidol. ‘I can’t see you as anything other than a brother, so I can’t answer your feelings’ or something. Kaburagi had still replied “No! I won’t give up!” and was pretty persistent about it. In the very end though, Yurie-sama wouldn’t take back her words, for both their sakes.

“It happened a little while after the school festival. Truthfully though, Yurie’s been trying put some distance between them since Masaya entered high school. She’s been trying to create chances for him to notice other girls as well. Remember the girl she brought with her to the school festival?”

“Ah, Maihama Ema-san.”

“Right. The two of them studied under the same tea master and go back quite a while. Ema-san looks up to Yurie and adores Masaya too, and has been to his house a few times with Yurie. Since Yurie dotes on her, Masaya can’t flat-out reject her either…”

“I see…”

“Originally we had planned to come with just Yurie and I but Ema-san came along to the school festival as well. Masaya was really unhappy about that. He had planned to walk around with Yurie but then Ema-san was stuck to him the whole time instead. And then later when he went to Yurie’s house to visit, Ema-san was there again… Eventually the stress built up and he demanded that Yurie tell him what was going on.”

“…”

“And so Yurie told him that she could only see him as a little brother and asked him to give up on her. It went something along the lines of telling him that her feelings wouldn’t change no matter how much he pined after her. She thought it was a good opportunity to set things straight.”

“So the exam results…”

“…Yeah. Masaya of all people dropped ranks, didn’t he. I heard about it later. Yurie was worried too. What’s worse is that after that a young man we met in the UK came to Japan on business. Yurie and I had gone to welcome him, but then Masaya saw. He assumed that Yurie had said all that because she had found a boyfriend and flipped out. The guy took a lot of care of us while we were overseas so Yurie was furious at how rude Masaya had been. So she went and said, ‘Who I date is none of your business, Masaya! I don’t want to see you anymore!’ Of course, they weren’t actually dating, you see.”

“I see…”

So that’s why he went on his journey.
But wow, Kaburagi hadn’t matured since primary school at all. It was the same mistake all over again.

“Did Shuusuke tell you that Masaya went missing? We had a decent idea of where he had gone, but Yurie was white as a sheet what with the destination and all. She came crying to me that she hadn’t expected him to take it that badly and asked me what to do. Shuusuke spent each day talking Masaya down until he knew enough to go pick Masaya up… Ojisama and Obasama were obviously horrified and wanted to know what happened to their son, so it was chaos over there too. Yurie’s been depressed and guilty towards them and told me that she couldn’t face them. It’s been a horrible start to the year.”

To think that while I was nomming on red bean soup and New Year’s mochi broth, these guys were going through something like this

“Anyhow, we managed to somehow bring Masaya home, and you remember his cold? Because of that he had to call off the rest of his journey, but he’s been completely listless, like a different person. We’ve all been really worried.”

“I see.”

This went into a lot more detail than I expected… I wasn’t liking where this was going.

“Are you certain that you should be telling an outsider like me about all this?”

I made sure to stress ‘outsider’. Not that I thought it would save me at this point…

Aira-sama leant forward and continued.

“You see, I was hoping you could lend your help in getting Masaya back on his feet. Please, Reika-chan.”

“I question what aid I could possibly lend… The two of us are not particularly close, after all. What if you asked Maihama-san, or…?”

Aira-sama shook her head and took my hands into hers.

“That’s not true. I know you can do it, Reika-chan! Back at the school festival the only time Masaya stopped looking moody was when he saw you in your butler outfit. He said something about you not listening to what he said at all. Masaya rarely shows any interest in any girl that isn’t Yurie, you know!”

He wasn’t interested in me so much as in pointing out why my costume was bad, though.

“And I feel a little bad for saying this, but I don’t think Ema-san could move Masaya’s heart,” she declared.

“Ah, but~”

“Please, Reika-chan! Yurie’s been feeling responsible for it all and has been in really bad shape. Couldn’t you give Masaya some advice or something to cheer him up? Please?”

Uuuu… It was really hard to refuse Aira-sama like this…
But I didn’t wanna do itttt. I had no idea how to cheer somebody like that up, and to begin with I didn’t want to get involved.

“Reika-chan.”

“Uu… I understand.”

────I had taken the first step into a bottomless bog.

Advice… What kind of advice was I even supposed to give?
Ways to get over heartbreak? This was actually the best chance for him to start a new love with Wakaba-chan, but there were no signs of that at all.
What if I tried spurring Wakaba-chan on? No, no, it wouldn’t do to cross any more dangerous bridges than I already had.
Oh, how about…

“Umm, Kaburagi-sama?”

I called out to Kaburagi while he was sitting blankly in the salon. Sitting next to him, Enjou smiled.

“Why not leave behind the troubles of the material world and join one of the strictly male convents in Europe? How about it? The World of Roses awaits you.”

“…”

“Kisshouin-san, could I have a word with you?” smiled Enjou as he grabbed my arm and pulled me away.

“Why exactly does Masaya have to get a tonsure and join a convent? And in Europe too.”

“As a scion of the Kaburagi house, I believed it suitable for him to go to the true home of convents.”

“Vetoed.”

Wow, somebody’s being picky.

I returned to Kaburagi for another try.

“Kaburagi-sama, Japan has Mount Hiei and Mount Kouya. How about it? Throw away your worldly ties, shave your head, and enter the service of the Buddha. I think the shaved-look would suit you very well, Kaburagi-sama. You might even get a chance to meet Saigyou’s homunculus.”

“…”

“Kisshouin-san, could I have a word with you?” said Enjou, grabbing my arm a little stronger than last time and pulling me away. “Do you think you could maybe step away from advice that involves running away from home? Kisshouin-san, you’re really just trying to seal something troublesome far away, aren’t you?”

“Goodness, no! I thought that it might be best if he had a change of pace. My intentions are entirely pure.”

“Liar.”

How mean. Doubting people’s sincerity like that is just proof that his own heart is twisted.

“A tonsure… Monkhood…” we heard Kaburagi mutter.

“You see? Kaburagi-sama seems to be interested as well. Kaburagi-sama, I personally recommend the tonsure!”

“Kisshouin-san, that’s enough out of you.”

Despite the efforts I used to come up with this advice, Enjou shooed me away. I thought it was pretty good advice too.
I only wanted the best for him.

‘We’ll do something about Masaya on our own. Thanks.’

Goodness, is that so? I apologise for not being able to help.

  1. Anyway LOL those advice really Reika was liek “go find urself something todo without romance in it so I will not getting involved”
    >.< I dont ship them either so Reika do ur best!!

    1. I thought Reika-sama is advising him for him to be able to cut his worries and widen his view.

Pfftt.!!! Honestly, I think that Reika-sama is just saying something like ” Go away and lock yourself from materials worries and live in solitude or seclusion” lol.

    2. It sounds to me like:
Reika: “Kaburagi-sama, why don’t you go find yourself your own Fortress of Solitude.”

      Masaya: “…Fortress of Masayatude…”

Suushuke: “…stop treating him like he was poisoned by kryptonite.”

  2. As expected of Reika. Haha. Even Aira gave up on her.

At least Kaburagi showed some response to her suggestions. So, where will it be? The convents in Europe or somewhere closer int the mountains of Japan? Haha.

  3. Well Reika is really unreliable when it comes to helping people for personal gain. We all remember how she tried to get her father out of shady business…

Also I’m willing to bet one poem full of twenty emojis that Wakaba will have her debut as a romantic partner for Kaburagi and approach him on her own somehow.

      1. In kimidol, the reason kaburagi had many interaction with wakaba cause by reika.. she might be the antagonist but at the same time a cupid. Here she did think to act the same as kimidol to push wakaba to kaburagi but hold herself when she remember where the ending leads to.

  4. LMAO. hahaha. It’s so funny that she commented that she was enjoying mochi when the drama was happening. Her advice was so hilarious. Enjou is like ‘please don’t give useless advice’. I laughed to tears. Her advice look like to mock Kaburagi in a way. which is good btw.
It is so obvious that she just wants to get rid of Kaburagi who is part of her troubles.

  5. — Thanks for the chapter~ ^^.

Reika-sama is really great, I mean, what Reika-sama said is true, I think it will be fine too for Kaburagi… hmmm..
I wonder just what will Kaburagi say to Reika-sama after he recovers and then remember what Reika-sama’s been advising him in the days where he is not himself… hmm…!!

  6. Nice timing! I was just about to go to sleep.

    Pfffffffffffffffffffffffff.

She manages to get out of “cheer up Kaburagi duty” without upsetting him or even having him notice her. A stroke of genius on her part.

I wonder if part of the reason Kaburagi’s mother always pushed Reika at Kaburagi is to detach him from Yurie. I also wonder whether they brought Maihama and Reika together in that tea party to try and make Reika jealous.

I wonder how Reika’s and Kaburagi’s parents interpret Reika’s actions towards Kaburagi. Perhaps they just think that Reika is shy or reserved? Perhaps they believe that Reika is being passive because she thinks that Kaburagi doesn’t like her, or because she knows that he is only interested in Yurie.

Maaan, I’m really happy that she avoided any Kaburagi flags. It’s kind of interesting that she doesn’t seem to be worrying about a BAD END anymore, she simply doesn’t want to go out with him.

    1. Oh when I think of it, I think Kaburagi’s parents must feel a bit frustrated with him.

Think of it this way, you have an excellent son who is good at both academics and athletics. But the downside is that he’s actively rude at his worst, or simply apathetic at best. You want him to succeed in life, but you know he’s going to have problems if he keeps acting like a selfish brat. He’s going to have to enter the corporate world and make connections in high society, but the way things are going, he’s actively alienating everybody.

So you try to get him interested in some other girl besides Yurie. Because for one, that relationship isn’t healthy for him. And for another, you hope maybe he’ll come out of his shell a bit if he gets interested in somebody else. You want him to reform. It’s actually bad enough that Madam Kaburagi is going to do some helicopter parenting if that’s what it takes.

But no, he just insults Maihama and makes insensitive comments about Reika’s fasting. By any stretch of the imagination, all the girls are far better bred than your hopeless son. I mean, look at Reika, she looks annoyed. And everybody says she’s just perfect. And your son basically went, “DERP, YOU’RE FAT.”

      FFS.

      1. P.S.
Anytime Kaburagi’s parents went, “I wish I had a daughter.”
What they mean is, “Our son kind of sucks and we wish we had somebody more well-behaved sometimes.”

      2. Amazing analysis. I love this. I have to confess i don’t like kaburagi and am so glad reika won’t date him. He’s just too rude and he should know better. He’s the kind of person that needs constant management and nobody got timw for that

        1. I think I have a better handle on Kaburagi’s character now though.
He’s a typical dude in that he’s hypercompetitive and tends to fixate on his interests to the exclusion of everything else. He’s smart, but the reason he’s #1 on exams is because he hates losing and he probably studies really hard. Notice how hard he trained for the cavalry battle.

And I think that’s why he gets involved with Wakaba. Because she’s a challenger in the exam rankings. He might distract himself from his love woes by throwing himself into competition and if she doesn’t buckle under right away, then she’ll be this infuriating obstacle to getting some catharsis. Probably the best motivator is for him to see his name in second place a few times.

Personally, I think an intervention with Aira, Enjou and Reika would be better, but we all know that shoujo ai is good medicine here in fantasy land.

          1. I knowthat but i guess i got annoyed because all this will do is just making things easier for him. He won’t really change or examine himself, he’ll just find people that have gotten used to him and can act in a way that interests him. He won’t reflect, he won’t learn and say he falls in love with wakaba san and she doesn’t feel the same way i bet he would act exactly like this to her and ruin any relationships she desires. I guess am just tired of “tyrannical”, “arrogant” male leads who are horrible people and make the female lead uncomfortable but don’t really change or self reflect because the female lead falls in love with them. They’ve gotten what they wanted so that mwans they are doing okay, right?
Sorry for the rant and going of on you. It’s just one of the things that annoys me about shoujo fiction and why i dropped it. I’ve only just gotten back into reading the novels and can i say the ones that este translates have been amazing. Sadly, i don’t think i can go back to shoujo manga anymore. I know Kaburagi isn’t a bad person. He just annoys me and reminds of so many other leads (Itazura na kiss, can i say Itazura na kiss, I’m saying Itazura na kiss).

            Liked by 6 people

            1. Well yeah, that’s the thing. I agree, normally I’d say it’s terrible advice to expect another person to fix or “complete” you.

It’s just that in fantasy land, the trope is that Wakaba will wind up pushing back on him and that this leads to him reexamining himself. It rarely happens that way because, eh, fantasy love is better than real love.

Like I say, I think it’s probably better for everybody to just run an intervention because he needs a bit of honesty. Nobody was willing to tell him the truth outright, and were instead just trying to manage him.

              Liked by 4 people

              1. Oh and yeah, Kenkyo Kenjitsu is great because it’s parodies shoujo tropes. I’m here mostly because I want to watch that unfold from Reika’s perspective and have her throw wrenches into the process.

              2. Seriously, i would read the shit out of that story. Where the main male lead is being a dick and every gets tired of his nonsense and tells him the truth to his face. He reexamines hos life and starts improving while going through life. He still messes up because his human but hey everyone does that and he’s actually trying instead of looking for people to adjust to him. He doesn’t get together with the girl of his dream because trying to become a good person doesn’t necessitate a reward and because get this, the girl doesn’t like him anyway because he was a dick and she doesn’t want to manage him. Or also because you know she just doesn’t like him. That happens. Some people will just not like other people. and then when he falls in love again and the girl falls back he’ll actually value instead of taking it for granted. Also, he can’t be the only shitty one in the story everyone will kind of have their horrible moments even the protagonist who in my dream tale is the one that doesn’t like him. He’s peripheral to her story anyways. Anyway, everyone is shitty, it’s just that as is the case with the main leads he’s shittier than others. Anyway he reduces to a normal level of dickishness and it’s not a huge plot point in the story just a side point. And in the end everyone finds love, hurrah.
I like that story, maybe i should write that story.

                1. Try the manga Onani Master Kurosawa. It started as a death note parody and the first half is a bit juvenile but the second half was very good. Character growth for everyone.

                    1. Yeah, the first part of it is a bit of a slog at times but the last 10 chapters or so make it all worth it. It’s certainly one where you won’t be complaining about the ending being a let down.

                      Liked by 1 person

                2. Funny thing is that Enjou *could* woo Reika but he just isn’t doing what he needs to to accomplish that.

He’s done nothing to overtly show that he has any affection for her or cares about her well being. Every interaction is framed either as her “owing him a favor” or “hush money” or some form of coercive manipulation. From his perspective, it might be teasing or a tongue-in-cheek form of black humor, but she doesn’t see that. She’s frightened of him and Kaburagi and believes every time they interact, it’s only because he needs her to go fix Kaburagi’s problems.

So I suppose this is a good chapter in the sense that the girl protagonist is actively foiling or trying to get out of interacting with a situation that she finds unpleasant.

                  1. Yeah, that’s why i love this story. To be frank, i don’t ship reika with enjou either cos of that. I guess it’s just that camille got involved with the supporter of the main lead in her story and it worked marvelously that’s why i have hope for their ship but honestly i shipped reika more with aruzawa and class pres. Hoping they grow to have a genuine connection.

                    1. Well, I made the comment mostly because I do know Enjou’s chances are pretty good otherwise. Reika’s testimony about her own preferences are pretty damning and I do find Enjou’s attention to the finer details of her personality and motivations to be endearing. The part where he picks up on how Reika just wants to get rid of Kaburagi is pretty funny.

He shows he could be responsive to her needs, he just needs to quit screwing around and save the teasing for when he’s more established. Because she takes all that stuff the wrong way. Takateru pulls that shit on her all the time, but he gets away with it because she doesn’t have this fear that her brother is out to get him. And in fairness, a large part of that fear comes from Reika’s knowledge about a certain alternate timeline.

But as this is good and sensible advice, it won’t be happening anytime soon because there’s no comedy of misunderstandings in it.

I guess i startes moaning about kaburagi and started on enjou. i think they’ll be a good pair i just haven’t reached the stage where i ship them. I guess as the story progresses i will

            2. Yes, but that is a particularly bad shoujo. I can’t say I like “An Otome Game’s Villianess Turned into a Magic Otaku,” either, because of how one of the guys treats his love interest. I started reading it, but dropped it because of a similarly irritated feeling. No offense intended to people who like this series, I just personally can’t stomach it.

I prefer shoujo like escaflowne (if that even qualifies), natsume yuujincho (no romance for the main, though), Snow White and the red hair, ouran high school host club, fruits basket (though the protagonist could be smarter), fushigi yuughi (ditto), full moon wo sagashite (tear fest), Kareshi no kanojo…..
Some with a slightly bullying male that were still palatable because of a strong female lead would be kamisama hajimemashita, the world is still beautiful, and inuyasha…

Thanks for the chapter. Looking forward to seeing how this is gonna get resolved and if Wakaba is gonna get involved at all.

  19. Thanks for the chapter. 1st advice Reika-sama wants Kaburagi to soul search in Europe (more or less “fuck off” ) and crossed the world of roses and brotherhood (homo). 2nd advice Do the monkhood in the mountains and get bald. She sure shows no mercy on broken Kaburagi.

  20. The poor guy. He’s popular with whole bunch of girls but the only two woman he’s interested with shuns him up. How tragic, i also recommended Tonsure it would look good on him with beard.

    1. I think Reika is, at most, 0.5 Enjou in Kaburagi’s world, adding up to a total of 1.5 Enjous. Enjous being a measurement of the number of people in Kaburagi’s life that he considers useful and worthwhile human beings that he’s probably still very rude to.

  21. LOL!! that is so Reika-sama…hahaha..queen of troll she is…
I wonder I’m not right in the head cause for some reason I really ship kaburagi n reika-sama…my head keep thinking that all his action toward reika-sama as an awkward boy who try to gain the attention of the girl he like (unconciously….)

  22. My kingdom to be a fly on that wall. Enjou’s expression must be PRICELESS.

That’s what you get for forcing unwilling people though.

    Go, Reika! Obliterate those flags!

  23. Aria really should apologize to Reika. She’s basically trying to sell her off to kaburagi when she clearly has no interest and any amount of introspection would reveal Reika is vehemently against it.
I was personally hoping that Reika would accidentally reveal she thinks he’s a stalker and Aria has to relay that he has no hope with her in the future.

    1. I think Aira should have known that reika doesnt like kaburagi because of that letter incident in elementary school

  24. That’s hilarious!! Well, she solved that troublesome matter on her own. Make me have to help Kaburagi? Sure, I’ll help him to the path of monkhood! *dies laughing* Thanks for the translations!

  25. Oh my god………… LOL. I was imagining this scene differently, I thought she would at least try to be nice.
And I was imagining, her attempt to be like this.
“Hey, Kaburagi-sama. Sigh. Do you have any qualms about my outfit?”
Reika shows up in an animal costume without any noses on.
    Kaburagi listlessly ignores her.
Reika keeps showing up in animal costumes without noses.
And eventually it irks Kaburagi enough. And he finally does something and snaps out of his mood.
And then be all like “you did this for me?”
ANd sweet heart-throbbing doki doki stuff awaits from the newly acquired stalker which is Kaburagi.
    Stalker GET.

          1. LOL. I know right?
I was seriously hoping something like that was going to happen. Cause well its Reika, tehe pero.
            She’s weird.
Quick question~ Who do you ship Reika with?
(Question for everyone lol I guess.)
Cough, I… don’t really have anyone to ship her with.
Reika has a clear lack of defining and actual good interests.
Sigh, I was shipping her with that one boy she went to cram school with, way back in the day. But alas, he has the scary childhood friend watching every move. Sigh. So nope.
I also liked Senpai, but nooooooope.
            And then came Dog lover-kun.
            But hell to the no.
And then I finally came to Enjou….
            Uh. No.
So. If I had to choose I’ll go the Imari/Onii-sama route~

            1. I ship her with Enjou.
I could also consider Tomoe, buuuut, yeah taken.
Gaudy Piercings was an opcion I could get behind, but then he became Dog Lover-kun.
I’m not one for Imari but I understand the onii-sama route XD

            2. Enjou and Mizasaki fighting over reika, which changes the original manga to Reika as the center between the love rivals (sub enjou). I wish tomoe was an option though.
              Slightly Imari. Slightly Iwamura.
Wow, is anyone else having problems with auto translate trying to change all the names, constantly?

      1. Onii-sama!! Ruuude much. It was merely a passing fancy, knew it wasn’t going to happen.
And question for you as well!
Who do you ship Reika with?
        Also, I DON’T MIND A LITTLE SPOILER.
Does Reika-chan get an actual love interest in the future? Or are we stuck with who we have now as options?

  26. Thanks for the chapter!

    Reika did something beautifull XDXD
Maybe she opened kaburagi to a whole new world.

Kaburagi is so down that even Reika the Coward could go up to him and tell him to enter a temple with a straight face. If that makes him reflect it would be pretty funny. It’s Kaburagi we are talhing about, so maybe (subtly) telling him to fuck off or stop crying would be effective.
… but Enjou should be carefull or he may actually try to enter a temple. It’s Kaburagi we are talking about, after all.

  27. “Holds megaphone while carrying protest banners with Enjou and Bakaburagi crossed out faces” shouting “Save our Seals! Save our Tanuki pup! save our Bea Tan!” beats drum “Save our sheep! save our deer girl!”

Come on Wakaban Chan take the irritatingly annoying Kaburagi sama away, you can do it! you go girl, “puts on support headband” give Reika Sama a break! of course Im not using you to seal the Bakaburagi, not at all, now if you can also keep that Enjou (no honorifics) sealed as well then all will be nice and cheery for our Heroine Reika Sama! after all there really does appear to be a rather strong suggestion that Enjou (scheming bastard) is heading down the Reika Sama route, N O spells NO! we cant have that now, this silly young man is far to sinister for our sweet tanuki deer sheep puppy seal pup.

“Does a Dogeza” so please Wakaban chan the best other heroine in this story, please seal the annoying twins forever more with your commoner charm! Right now only Imari is a potential Partner, but he is blocked by an unsurmountable wall called Onii sama! and as much as we want the Onii sama route we know that wont happen! (or will it)

Lol delayed karma, i really hope to see enjou tired bc he did try to stop his friend for joining some temple or church

i really like the imari route for reika, he has always been good to her since she was a child, if only her brother give him a chance

  31. I have a feeling once he recover this guy isn’t learning a thing when he move on to his next love, as in suffocating his love interest and stalking them. Reika is right to make sure he won’t look at her that way, though funnily enough everyone around Kaburagi as in his parents, Yurie, Aira and Reika’s parents ship them. Heck! Majority of female population in school who admires Reika does.

Reika who has seen his real color in the other hand, ‘No thank you.’
Enjou is also a big No to her, because he is black hearted. Reika’s type seems to be sincere and kind guy, which is… what Enjou was in the shoujo manga. However from the romance hint so far Enjou is interested in her.
Still… for shoujo novel the romance is hella slow.

  32. First of all: THANKS FOR THE CHAPTER!!

    Then…

I kept reading about flags destruction, but is it just me or does anyone else thinks that Kaburagi passing from “…” to “A tonsure… Monkhood…” mumbling, means that he somehow started to react and that Reika ended doing what was requested from her?

Just think about it, he isn’t responding to kindness, so why wouldn’t the opposite be what is needed?

Also, she seems as the “natural type”, so despite her actual intentions, her luck might turn the table… against her. This is a comedy after all.

    Reika-sama the flag crusher.
I’m worried for Bakaburagi but hey…he’s an idiot so he’ll bounce back just fine.
But I don’t think we’ll be seeing him for awhile….

On a side note though ever since last chapter I had some crazy idea of where Reika-sama will help encourage the poor guy, he’ll see her as his shisho and join the Hair Drill cult ver. Sheep 🐑 mode. Or fall in love with her and go full mode deredere~ as the new target of his stalker-yandere tendencies.

And from there chapter 1-12 of this sort of plot was formed in my head and was about to go to chapter 13….until this chapter came aaaaand then My overly imaginative fanfic was crushed along with the flag by Reika-sama 😂

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR THE UPDATE!!😆

  34. Geez. He stopped the stalking once Yurie told him off. And he was in primary school, so he was 8 or something. I’m not for Kaburagi but he has actually grown.

I haven’t seen any indication that Enjou is “black-hearted”. He manipulative but he always seems to act with the best of intentions.

Reika complains a lot about Kaburagi and Enjou but in most stories, their interactions would be seen as “friendly banter”. She probably wouldn’t mind Kaburagi half as much if she wasn’t worried about their parents (and to a lesser extent everyone else) trying to get them together.

    1. He stopped stalking not because he realized stalking is wrong, but because he got in trouble for it. That key difference is why his stalking affinity is held against him.

  36. Poor Enjou. Stupid Kaburagi, give your best friend some slack and stop moping. I’m sorry Yurie, his inner creepy stalker will never be cured despite Shuusuke&Reika’s joint attempts to rehabilitate him. His love is just that heavy, no matter who the target of his affections are.

  38. You did the right thing, Reika. After all, it’s dangerous to put herself in a position where he would rely emotionally on her, especially after he’s been hurt so badly he’d probably take any chance to remedy his pain. Who would want to form a close relationship with him after seeing what Enjou has to go through because of him and hearing that he even contemplated suicide because he was rejected? That’s just too intense and scary to deal with.

I don’t really care much for the romance; I want Reika’s carefree life to continue; THAT is what’s fun to read here!

  39. Omg Reika dealt with that perfectly. “You really REALLY want ME to help out? Really? *sigh* Alright, I’ll try.” And she then proceeds to help herself remove a problem from her future who happens to have the same name, face, and problems as this Kaburagi that Aira wants her to help.

  40. Yes! That was like a big “Fuck off!”

She actually expected Reika to help an asshole who has been annoying since childhood? Wow… I have no word. What even gave her the idea to ask her? Havent she seen how she has tried to stay away from him?

  41. To be fair, it was really kinda crappy of Aira to try and throw Reika into the situation like that. I mean anyone with a pair of eyes could see Reika HATES both Masaya and Shousuke.. having her take care of their worries and troubles? That’s not really kind to her at all. Not to mention she’s always having to take care and clean up everyone else’s messes to the point where it wouldn’t be surprising if she got ulcers. I mean Shousuke especially should already know how much crap she’s been having to put up with because of him and his best friend. They aren’t even that CLOSE which makes it even more annoying.

  42. Reika-sama not taking anybody’s crap is hilarious!!! And yeah, Kaburagi is just too disappointing, but at least this chapter shows that Enjou really does care about his best friend.

    Thanks for the tl!
