Tiger Story – Chapter 6

I kept my head burrowed in his fur but I could feel that he started walking again. I didn’t care where he was going.

Even though I knew, I didn’t want to know.

We walked for a long time, I think. It both felt like it happened in the blink of an eye and took an eternity, but now he stood still.

Strangely enough he didn’t start talking this time. It was as if he was waiting for something.

I waited a long time before I took the bait.

“Where are we?”

“Where it all began, the center of the world.”

I looked around. I knew this place. This was where I grew up. Or maybe it was where I thought I grew up. I realized that it didn’t matter to me as I looked around with nostalgia in my eyes.

“Close your eyes, sense the world around you.”

I didn’t understand what he meant. I considered briefly if I should act defiant or not, but in the end I chose to close my eyes at the very least.

“Do you feel the wind brushing through your fur? Can you smell the scent of summer in the air? Take all of it in.”

I still didn’t understand, but I tried my best.

“If you want, you can feel everything. This is the center of the world.”

I tried taking everything in.

“You are the world, and the world is you.”

I was used to his riddles by now so I made sense of it.

“Open your eyes.”

I opened my eyes and looked at the world.

“All is yours, your will be done.”

I jumped down from his head, a fully grown adult now.

I turned around and looked at where he once was.

“My will be done.”

Author note: Quite impressive you managed to stick with it so long. This was meant as a short story and as such we are now at the end of it.  I realize there might be a few of you who are flipping tables at the ending, not sure what is going on. In that case I advice that you read it again.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed it. Personally I’m quite proud that there now is a story about a tiger on this blog. A thing the world sorely needs.

    1. Originally I was supposed to be asleep about 5 hours ago. I couldn’t sleep though, I just stayed up thinking about tigers. I’m leaving home tomorrow, so I wasn’t quite sure about my schedule, and I didn’t want to disappoint anyone.

      Better safe than sorry, right?

      Glad you enjoyed it.

    1. Maybe. The ideas, writing and editing for this thing was done within a span of 12 hours, and looking back at it I’m not sure how satisfied I am. If I’m going to post another thing here it’ll be done a lot differently and the novel itself will also be very different.

  3. Is this about the zodiac? Assuming the furball was some sort of ox, and seeing as how the furball disappeared at the end essentially ‘passing the torch’ onto the tiger…

    1. I don’t know if I should be talking about the story because I’d like people to draw their own conclusions, but here goes.

The zodiac (as you call the furball) never passed anything on to the tiger. If you look back on it, this story had a tendency to give the tiger everything that it needed at the right times. The zodiac never did anything, it was a manifestation of another need, the need for a guide to hold the tiger’s paw and walk with them trough the final stages of maturity and creation of the world.

So over all I’m fine with the him as he is. The things I’m not so satisfied with are the transition of ambience from chapter 1 to chapter 2, I’m not too happy with chapter 5 either, and over all there are a few things here and there I could have been more clear about.

If anyone has some feedback feel free to throw it at me. I might edit this novel a bit in a week or so, but it will essentially stay the same.

  4. Whaaaaat. Its over? o^o. It was good, really, simple, really sweet, I was hoping for some more cute tiger moments >o< . And to be honest, I have a really hard time imagining what the furball is supposed to look like…. Is it.. a moose? I was imagining something like a moose, because they are pretty hairy and have horns,.. or wait, is it like a buffalo or bison? I have a really hard time imagining what it is. And how tiger-kun describes it, I pictured something circular, you know, like a "furball", but I still doubt my imagination. What is it? o-o

    1. The tiger is a bit of a dramaqueen, the furball is actually a sort of yak. I do love everyone’s guess on it, so I’m open for what people believe him to be.

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it. Maybe one day you’ll see your beloved tiger again.

      1. Oh my god lol, a yak. And oh my god, what am I thinking “-.- . I sriously imagined a mooser when I read the story, and I rethought of it. “What would a moose be doing living in the warm jungle/forest environment with a tiger?” And I had to rethink it lol xD. I was so stuck aand caught on what the furball really was xD. And yaaay. Maybe more tiger-kuns! ALSO I would like to ask, is the tiger a boy or girl?

          1. Oh my, to be honest though, I figured the tiger was actually a girl. You mentioned how the older brother teased the main tiger. And so I figured that the character was a girl. Like how an older brother teases his little sister. (Me saying tiger-kun, is my own mindset lol xD. I think tiger-kun sounds better then tiger-chan o-o. For some reason)
